Thought I would share pics of the in dash navigation system I had installed in my '03 M45. It's a JVC kd-nx5000. Had it installed by local car audio people for about $150. At first they said no worried about car electronics may be hooked into cassette deck. So I unhooked everything in back to show them it was ok. So they installed it. Still looks a little rough where they cut the trim piece. I may go back and have them put something there to make it look even. Enjoy!

You don't happen to have any other pictures from the install, do you?

I took some pics of the wires hoping to help some people out if they wanted to do a self install, but when looking at the wires they only cut 3 of the wires from the OEM harness. Looks like they ran the wires for the speakers somewhere behind the console as well as wires for the VSS and others. I'll post them later and try to take some night pics.

Are you using that in conjunction with the stock Bose audio system?

That looks very nice. Where did you get the head unit?

Yeah give us the low down...like maybe a how to--or something...that is definetly a nice look and a great idea....it dont even matter to me if they tap into the cars speakers or not just as long as i could get a navi intergrated like that..instead of the them ugly big mounting brakets that come with the portable ones

Here are the other pictures I took of the wires for the install:http://i34.photobucket.com/alb...5.jpgh ... lb...8.jpg

NOt sue if it'll help much. Sorry for not getting this up sooner, moving next week. The unit I got off ebay. The cheapest place I've seen is Abe's of Maine, they have free shipping and no tax. It's a great unit. It can be bypassed to allow full use of navigation and play movies while car is in drive.

So have you then used that as your "TAPE" source? If that's how you have it setup, I'm going to be looking into something very soon... that is a phenomenal use of that space and I had never thought of just connecting right into the tape leads as a source... bravo, very nice job.

No. This unit isn't connected through the stock cassette player, the cassette player was removed. I provided the pics of the wires so that maybe someone can figure it out and do a self install. Although I think if you could find a way to push the cassette player up, find a power source, and hook up the other wires, and use the audio out it might work though.
