Hey guys, so i recently decided to buy this really cool looking navigation system for the altima/altima coupe that i found on ebay. Well, it came today and had really good first impressions. i just finished installing it, went out for a drive with to test the gps, and it worked wonderfully. Overall i'm loving it so far, but it has only been less than a day.
so, i will tell you some pros and cons about this and here is the ebay link if anyone's interested.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2012-Nissa ... 961wt_1425
Yes, its from China, but even so i received it in less than a week and feels like good quality.
It's manufactured by a company called Road Rover, so you guys can look em up!

Pros:
-Backlight LED matches rest of the car
-Super easy install even with no instructions included
-tons of features, such as dvd player, navigation, bluetooth, A2DP :dblthumb:
-Even has clothing and unit conversions...
-Different themes for the gps and menu
-On screen ipod
-Picture viewer
-USB ports (for music, videos, whatever)
-calculator..
-trip monitor
-Only about $560
-and much more.

Cons:
-Textures around the ac and the unit don't match (nbd though)
-GPS not as responsive as i would have hoped, but still pretty good.

..that's pretty much all the cons i can think of. Let me know what you guys think  Now for some pics! (sorry, iphone quality)

Heh. Still liking it? I expected the OS to look a lot worse than that! Looks good!
I'm kind of considering getting one now. What did it take to get the gps installed and working properly? Was any part of it difficult? (I'm new to the community. <<<)

Also, does the volume up/down rocker on your steering wheel work with this Navi?

Installation was really easy, all you do is plug and play. Except for the rear view camera (which is $20 extra), which i had to wire up throughout the car. And yes the volume controls on the steering wheel work with this.

Awesome. I'll be looking into this system then.
This is OT, but how did you change the rings around your speed/tachometer from white?

here you go, http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/altima ... hange.html
the leds are actually white, the orange is because its just an orange film. I just scraped it off with a knife and used clear blue tape to make it light up blue.

that is an amazing find!!! only thing is i don't have 500 to drop on a system right now. but i can see my self getting this in the future. what about gps updates? and not responsive, like you pass the point before it tells you to turn?

you can get gps updates from a website and use the usb to install. well, its not that laggy, just a tiny bit so it's all good. however i started to notice that the gps takes a while to start up and find the signal.

cool!!! keep us updated on any problems you have with it. i'm really fired up to get one of these. It definitely has everything i was looking for in a system and looks standard. what about aux? i like the i pod hook up but does it still have the regular aux input still?

I didnt really see a GPS antennae in your pics, is there one? Where is it mounted? It should be outside the car.

yes i put it under the dash. I know it's supposed to be outside, but i wanted a clean look. At the time i drove it around and made sure i could get a signal. I dont really get how it works, sometimes it gets the signal pretty quick sometimes it's slow.

Well if its under the dash, thats why you are having trouble acquiring a signal. You can run it to your trunk or even roof rather easily, should fix the trouble.

Actually, the dash isn't a terrible location. You don't want metal between the antenna and the sky. I had mine in the location where the center speaker was (speaker removed) and had zero issues over the course of a few years. I liked this location as it wasn't visible when in the car, but had good reception to the birds. I've also had luck with the antenna mounted on the rear deck.

Haven't updated the gps maps yet, but yes it is still UNDER the dash and it seems to get a signal rather quick, about less than 5 mins. I'm going to unsolder ALL orange leds under the buttons and solder on blue ones. I know its a pita, but i know my way around soldering :D also thinking about doing it for everyone here, but haven't decided yet. Anyways, when i change my leds i will probably put the antenna in a different place.

^Less than 5 minutes is quick? My $100 Garmin finds signal in 30 seconds or less. I really think relocating the antennae will help dramatically. But if isnt bothering you keep it clean and concealed.

Nice work man! I just took my buddies 09 Altima Full load Nav and was super jealous about that. Agree your dash looks awesome. Could you hid where you plug your Ipod in to the USB (In say the glove box like other new cars) or does it come right out the front of the dash, like the AUX import stock?

i actually had to drill a small hole in the top part of the cubby (under the navigation system) and i just wired through the usb cables and the ipod plug (which are both connected in the back of the system), so yes it's well hidden inside the cubby.

I have one of these too....it's a straight windows CE device which means you can do all sorts of stuff with it. Right now I've got iGO running on mine and it's like lightning.

MSG me if you have any questions on getting gps working ok. It took me a few tweaks.

Interested in getting this.

I have a Bose unit. So I was looking at:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NISSAN-ALTIMA-R ... 7a&vxp=mtr

Has anyone tried installing this?

Will the steering wheel controls (audio & phone) work with this?

Hi Jeffrey, can you post any close up pics showing the texture of the new unit next to the stock molding? I'm picky about looks, but this system seems pretty much like what I want to get. Thanks in advance!

I got one of these because of this thread so thanks for the heads up. Problem is, I can't get the steering wheel controls to work. When I try to program the buttons, the touch screen doesn't work. Frustrating. Otherwise, It's a nice unit.
