Just purchased my wife a fully loaded SL with NAV. I read a little about not being able to copy actual .mp3 file types to this via a CD. Is this true? The threads I read were pretty old and was hoping someone figured out how, or Nissan released something?

Also, does anyone know how to replace the roof racks? The ones we got were black and dont look good with Silver :) How hard are they to install? And how much am I looking at to swap em out?

Thanks!!

hi, i'm fairly new too, but i'll share what i know. first with the roof rack, my dealer actually supplied me w/ a separate booklet and hex key to explain the removal/installation of the cross bars (the parallel bars appear permanent). so try hassling your dealer on that one.

second, the "music box", if equipped. all you gotta do is put in a cd (bought or burnt) and a red rec icon will appear at the lower left on the touch screen. touch that and itt'll start ripping, you have to mannually name each album/artist/song though.

hope that helped

If you're talking about replacing the roof rack main rails, it's quite involved but doable. They're bolted right through the roof so you need to remove the headliner inside the vehicle to access the nuts. I'd recommend getting a drawing perhaps from the service manual before going ahead with any headliner removal unless you are quire handy and comfortable with working on your own cars.
