Hi Nico club members! My name is Tom. I’m creating an entertainment motorsports web series with a couple of friends. One of the most important things that we want to accomplish is to unite the world of motorsports. This means we will be covering a lot of different brands and aspects of the sport. We felt that there was a void. What we have found about most motorsports shows or web series is:
• Most motorsports web series offer more mechanical footage than actual events or the vehicles performing.
• The shows are scripted
• Low quality
• Little innovation
• Others are too serious and offer little entertainment
• Extremely expensive cars that the regular joe cant buy
• Not a lot of car action
• The show works like a news program which most of the time equals boring
What we want to accomplish is to take you from event to event in each episode, changing the rhythm of the show month to month. Anything from drifting to drag to off road to … you name it. We will do it. By the end of September we will be running a Kickstarter campaign to cover the costs to start the show. You will know everything that is happening and we will be around to answer every question you may have. Better yet, we will try to make all your suggestions and great ideas happen.

We want to take into consideration what you have to say, your preferences, your favorite kind of events and what you want to see. We will keep a very open process throughout the series. This means your input will be very important to us. We have created a short questionnaire so we can find out a little more about your taste. Please let us know!!!

1. What is your favorite motorsport?
2. What is your favorite type of vehicle?
3. What is your favorite car?
4. Would you watch a weekly episode of this show even if your favorite event is not on?
5. Do you prefer to watch mechanics work or the vehicle perform?

Thank you very much for your time guys and gals!! This has been our dream for years and we have been working endless hours to ensure this happens and it blows the expectations. With your help we are going to take the show and the sport into a whole new level!

Welcome Tom. What a great idea. I do agree that the current mainstream coverage of the big motorsports, like F1, NASCAR, NHRA, Indycar, etc have a tendency to be serious, sanctimonious and annoying. I'm sure you'll find a wide variety of interests within the category of motorsports when you see the answers to your question. I suspect those that do their own wrenching might be more interested in seeing more wrenching work on tv, but I think if you're looking for a wide viewership, you'll need to include action, insert some personalities, and most importantly, emphasize the fun.

I'd personally like to see a couple shows focusing on the grassroots LeMons or Chumpcar series, where creativity and fun are as important as the on track action, all within an affordable budget. You're talking preparing cars for less than the cost of an F1 driver's shoes. Where else can you see a Rolls Royce equipped with a monocle competing against an AMC Gremlin around a race track.

You could also do a show at some club events, like NICOfest Carlisle, where there are plenty of shenanigans + competition with drifting and Autocross, burnouts, etc, all held at the Carlisle Performance and Style show, which happens to be a mecca for tuners.

Here are my answers to your questions

1. What is your favorite motorsport? road racing
2. What is your favorite type of vehicle? Classic sports car
3. What is your favorite car? Ferrari
4. Would you watch a weekly episode of this show even if your favorite event is not on? yes
5. Do you prefer to watch mechanics work or the vehicle perform? vehicle and driver perform.

Thanks for the opportunity to give feedback. Good luck!

Thank you very much for your feedback. Thats exactly what we have in mind. Go to the meets of big forums like this one, record the show with guys like you that love motorsports while at the same time do mods and challenges in a light, funny atmosphere.

One of the main goals is to show that motorsports can be done by normal people. That you dont need a TON of money to do some very fun events and to have fun you dont have to be super talented.

I have never taken a sr20de apart. I got whoopped once by one though. I want to work with all different kinds of cars, engines and events. We have planned to build a 240sx for drifting! We will use forums and find information from guys like you. I think its fair to say that this web series will be a project of the community. We want it to feel like its more your show than ours.
