As some of you know, I drowned my Pathy at URE last Sept. & consequently 2 weeks later my engine sh*t-the-bed & completely locked up (I'm talking it got so hot that the engine block had turned blue). Well I bought a used motor from a cat up in Jersey (Max Stryker), tore it down, rebuilt it & installed that beast in mid December. I forgot to post some pics of it so here we go:

Why I needed a new engine (most of you have seen this pics already):

And sorry that I didn't take pics while trying to get the old motor out or rebuilding the new motor or installing it but here are a couple of pics of the new motor installed & running:

your air intake is in the driverside wheel well (I no stupid as f*ck!), so about that far unless you put a snorkel of some sort on it.

It just occured to me, why didn't you go the VG34 route? You already had the motor out, all you needed was some extra parts from a Q45!

Regardless, you got MaD SkiLLz dropping in that motor. I'm used to old "chebby's" and "ferd's". I'm definitely intimidated if I ever get around to yanking and rebuilding mine.

Since this is still my DD I had to do something quick & I knew were a good used VG33 motor was that was cheap.

When I graduate the plan is to re-register the R50 as a '95 WD21 (thats for emissions laws & such) & drop this in: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...A1318. Thats right, look out muthaf*ckers!

But that'll be like 2-3 years down the line

is it possible to take off the plastic tubing that goes from inner wheel well to air box, so the air is just sucking air in from the engine bay? kind of like short ram air intake? that way you can go a bit deeper with out worrying about sucking in water? i think ill look in to this.

Yeah as long as you make some hole that allows air into the air box, but if the air is coming from the engine bay its gonna be nasty cruddy air & will f*ck up your engine as bad as water (over time atleast). What I've also seen done is running the air intake through the glovebox or from inside the cab. This allows fresh clean air without the possibility of water coming in (unless you really, really sink your ride).

Where the stock air intake is located you can go through a bad puddle on the road & shove enough water into the engine to damage it or hydrolock it that way.

Ah, yes, slapping in a motor isn't much work in comparison to rebuilding.

As for the TDI.... Suck me! I hate you!

I wish I could slap one of those in mine. On the other note, how the hell are you going to re-register your vehicle as an older year model? How is that even legal?
