Hey ive been reading in this forum for a while now as im building a rb25det powered s13(ill have some pics up on here soon of it). Well any way after doing some searching on the net i found i new solution to spending $600 or what ever rediculas price Mckinny is currently charging. There is a place in Allentown PA that is selling mounts for the rb motors for $250 which includes both motor mounts and the transmission mount. I went up to chek out the place today, they had multiple swaped 240's on hand that looked great. I ordered a set of the mounts, but they were out of stock and should be instock after christmas. They also sell a drive shaft for the kit for an additional $250. The name of the place is low life cuztoms, il get you guys a phone number and website later on i cant find out where i wrote it all down.

nothing new about that, plenty of places have been doing their own thing when it comes to mount kits.no one says you have to use mckiney mounts.

. . . yeah, like Core motor mounts. Why anyone would waste their money on any of mckinneys overpriced products is beyond me.

well you do pay for reputation/name for kits like mckinney or even top hat who are NOT significantly less ... no doubt about it but either kit are proven to work.

price aside, any shop could fab something up but the way i look at it - what am i wanting out of the mounts (ie: clearance issues), hows the install, and how much easier will it make my install.

as for low life customz, if they had a website (i searched their name in google - nada) then they might sell a few more kits a month. post some pics if you can.

Yes that is the site. There phone number is on there. Like i said i went to visit the place before ordering the mounts, he said there has been no clearance issues with the steering shaft and downpipe on any of his cars, also it does require smashing in the starter area about the size of half a grape fruit is exactly what he said. They seem like a small business trying to get going so with great prices and great products they should do fine. Once i get the mounts in ill be sure to share lots of pics of them and after i install the motor. He is also going to get me a drive shaft for $250 which is a kick *** price.

heh...or one that has the phrase "low-life" in its name. Are they marketing to the thug demographic or the illiterate one? Might be that they're one in the same...I'm over analyzing this aren't I?

Moolovesblue wrote:You guys can't really be serious??!?!? are you really going to make those kind of judgements on a company just based on its name? Low Life Kustomz, INC is highly involved from what I've seen in the lowered and airbagged mini truck scene. Hence the name....maybe when they came up with the name they didnt think that there were that many closed minded and ignorant people out there, that would judge based on a name. I for one thought it was funny and kind of clever. This company tries to give everyone the best prices possible, and you are going to rip on them for the spelling of a word in there name, did it ever occur to you that since they do custom cars and trucks they wanted there name to stand out too?

All I'm saying is that I met them and had work done there and they helped me out alot and for people to be making fun of something as stupid as spelling just seems sad. Maybe those close minded people will feel better going to a place with ordinary spelling and paying double the price, I for one don't....but I guess that's your choice.
Everybody is just being cautious. Not everyone wants to jump at a new shop with no members that have tried their mounts and shown how they've worked. They have not been around long enough for people to know them and the work they do, 2 people showing up within a couple of months and saying they're good is not the same as 300 people over years who say the same. Also we have to wait for the good and the bad ( with all shops there are horror stories) to make a decision. If this is the way the orriginal owner wants to go by all means go ahead, post lots of pictures and let the rest of us know and hope their business prospers enough to where they can become one or our sponsors.

on another note which one would you rather fly in, American Airlines who's been around for a long time and pay full price or Amerikanizzel Airlizzel who just showed up and pay half?

I've dropped my vehicle off to LowLifeKustomz for an RB26 install. Has anyone else gotten any other swaps done from them?

Hmm I've talked to some guys from Low Life at Carlisle, seemed like decent people... cept their cars were rather dirty and I'm insanely OCD so that scared me, and I ran away to wash my hands.

I visited their shop in Pa first and they were working on a few cars including an RB26 also. So I took the plunge. I will find out in a couple of weeks how I get treated.

i bought my rb20 motor set from them back in sept. he responded to every email and question i asked. he answered every phone call or called me back. i drove an 8 hour round trip just to get everything. he even threw in a rb harness already wired for my 13. he was very honest about everything. i bought the motor without even seeing pictures. everything was ready as soon as i got there. everything was amazingly clean. and no not pressure washed then all tire shined up like most places. it was the same way as when he got it. i got a full swap with harness already done, side mount with all piping, and his mounts (which do clear)for 2k. motor had perfect compression and no problems when i got it running. ive now beat the hell out of it for the last 15 thousand miles and still not a single problem. he does wiring service, installs, anything you need they can do. reputation just takes time if your a small shop and want to be known on the internet and forums. i would buy from him again hands down. as soon as i sell my car ill be going right to him to get an rb26 and start a new project. thats just my experience with him and my 2 cents
