im getting the worst fking luck ever...after about 4000$ i still cant get a break....i do not know what im going to do if this motor fails...i paid 300$ for this engine and thats not that cheap...im very tired of this...for an 18 year old this isnt healthy..

i would tell you guys what im going to do to the guy but i dont feel like going to jail today....

lol true...you were a one man team basically though. but yeah hope that clutch is ok, too bad i had to put in a new stock clutch as last resort.

can anyone verify something for me...when u put in the flywheel, disc, pressure plate..is the disc suppose to spin freely or not?

nismochick - this is the new motor..not my old one...i just found out about it..(just swapped motors)

yea i know.. so did you put new plugs in it or did it come w/ plugs? I would try replacing the plugs and firing it up. Hopefully nothing is wrong w/ #4 cyl! Sorry & Good Luck!!!

you have the same luck as me, am out of $$ and i need a cylinder head cause my engine was overheating(head too warped), i found another 2 heads and those were bad too.(didn't pay for'em though, those were from them, did have to pay $24 to get each checked)

hope yours gets fixed with the new parkplugs, but why does that somehow sound like the previous owner ran some nitrous through it? usually nitrous eats spark plugs.

before u crack it up, go buy one of those magnetic stick ( I don't know what it's real name) and poke it in to the cylinder to see if it pick up anything. might not..hope for the best man. C

I used to do that to my Skyline every other weekend with HKS Iridiums or NGKr Iridiums...wicked expensive after awhile. Its from detonating. The ground strap got so hot it was pregniting the combustion charge...eventually it just wears away or snaps off entirely, I had little spots of ground strap welded to the tops of my pistons...which sucks because they in turn become hot spots themselves. You need to richen up the mix on boost and retard the timing some when you get it running. Check your compression man, if he had plugs like that, he may have a few bad rings/lands.

**** man i feel bad for you, your luck will turn around one day, just don't give up. i got my 240 when i was 18 and had bad luck with it ever sine up intill i turned like 20 and things started getting better and coming along smooth. I know how your feeling I been there.

But all I can say is try the magnetic stick like Loofee95SE suggested, and also hell maybe drain out the oil and hope the broke pieces come out with the oil, if ya don't see then, maybe try taking out of the oil-pan and see if you can find the broken piece laying somewhere inside the oil pan.

Best the luck to ya brother, things will get better, it used to be the same way for me and I wanted to call it quits soo many times but I hung in there.

Yeah, definitely detonation damage. Thats not good.

Where did this motor come from? Was it previously turbocharged? Have you done a compression test on it at all yet?

what about the very last one? because when i pulled the spark plug..it was barley tightenedat all. however i know theres a good chance this motor could have been mistreated before sold. this guy swapped in a SR before selling me this KA. is it funny or something? is it fun to beat on the KA before selling it? i dont get it....

anyways..do you guys think theres still hope? ill try that magnet thing you guys are talking about and drain it like crazy. next time i'm going to spend like 700$ on a perfect KA or something so i dont have to worry about this sh*t

Detonation. That is what causes that. You may think of cleaning the injectors. A lean condition on one cyl may cause ping like that. Don't worry about the magnet, the piece burned up.

We need to know compression results, also, are the plugs coming out wet? How watery is your oil? Any noises?

Yes, I understand that. I guess what I am getting at is that we don't know any more than you do. What is the history on the engine?

Detonation is very bad, but the good news is that usually the spark plugs are one of the first things to go under detonation. If the motor was NA when this happened, its hard to believe that the detonation could have been so bad to blow out rings/ring lands, although it is certanly possible. Only way to really find out at this point I think is to get the motor together and do some compression tests.

...Oh btw and spending 700 on a KA is totally unnecessary. They are all over the place, and NA motors with evidence of detonation like yours are incredibly rare.

Good luck to ya man, let us know what you find out!

A dry Nitrous shot will do that in one 1/4 mile run...I mean even a 50 shot...anything lean creates detonation, especially with our timing curve.

Am I correct in assuming that you were unsure of the condition of the motor you swaped into your car. You also plan on boosting the motor.

How far along in the install are you? I would do a compression test and consider pulling it back out for a rebuild. You'll want better pistons any way. If I was going to all the trouble of a swap, I would do a rebuild with upgraded pistons before even considering anything else. Even if it means going boostless for a while, that way you have a brand new engine to start with when you are ready to boost.

Just some friendly advice from an old guy who's been there.
