Well ive been going to the Nissan dealership every 1,000 miles for an oil consumption test and after 3 visits the test have concluded that the motor burns oil. So a new motor will be getting put in. The 08-09 model motor. Nissan said since the motor and transmission will be out, they will put in a new clutch with no labor costs. So ive been looking and ive noticed that all after market clutches need a new flywheel, im assuming aftermarket clutches dont work with the stock flywheel.

So i was looking at the RPS max street clutch with the rps flywheel. I have this clutch in my 91 z32 twin turbo and i love it, but how does it feel in the 350z? Currently i hate the pedal feel and engagement of the stock clutch. Does anyone else have a problem with there stock setup? every time i try to get on it when switching gears, the car gets jumpy. now dont say i dont know how to shift, bc i do, i shift perfectly in my z32, but in the 350z it just has a weird engagement point. So this is why im looking into getting a new clutch setup.

Also is there a way to turn off the stupid "SLIP" control and traction control? Im going through the back roads (alot of twist and turns) in 2nd and 3rd gear (mostly in 2nd) and while im revving high in those gears the damn "SLIP" light comes on and doesn't go away until i switch gears. How the hell am i suppose to have spirited driving with this "SLIP" $hit coming on.... All this new technology is stupid! I have no problems when driving my z32, but i cant do the same with my z33..

Help needed since ive never looked into performance parts for the z33.

You can adjust the point at which the clutch grabs to make it feel closer to your 300. The 350z does engage more toward the top, takes a while to get used to.

You can turn VDC off, im sure you know where the button is. The slip light still comes on to warn you your slipping (as if you didnt know) but thats all its doin.

If you want to disable all the electronics including the ABS take the fuse out for the VDC, its in the fuse box by the battery.

Ah, so its not just my car.. haha yeah the release point is at the very top. I can drive it normal and switch fine, but when i get on it, it becomes a challenge...

And where is the switch at?

Sry i spend most of my time in the z32 as it has alot more power than the z33. i tend to drop the top and use the z33 for the sunny days

I ended up swapping to the JWT lightweight clutch and flywheel when I got my transmission replaced. Difference was night and day.

It was to the point with the stock setup that my left leg would get sore after a day of driving because of how stiff the stock setup was. The JWT on the other hand felt like nothing. And after about a week of getting used to it, I love it.

so, how much oil does an engine have to burn to be considered a consumption problem?

I thought all gasoline engines consume oil as just nature of the beast, but what was your consumption rate that warranted an engine change?

In a way it sounds good, but it also sounds rather sucky. It would be interesting to see what was causing your consumption problem.

Good luck with the swap, hope every turns out for the best.

What year is your Z? I have a hard time believing they're replacing the motor with a 08-09 HR if its an older rev-up engine. They'd have to swap out not only the motor but a lot of the wiring too. When nissan replaces a motor they replace it with a reman motor of the same kind probably made in 08/09. A friend of mine just had his QR25 motor replaced and thats what it was, same engine but 08 build date

Yea sry for the confusion. Its not the hr motor, just a vq35 08-09 motor. The guys at the Nissan dealership were like hey since the motor transmission are going to be out, if you want to replace the clutch and the flywheel, we will do it np with no extra labor cost. So that's why im thinking of getting a clutch and flywheel. Everything is under warranty so no money coming out of my pockets
