Ok so i just got my new motor built and put in.... finally got it in time and everything and now she starts up but it idles up to 3000 and then dies.... its like its choking or something.... also there is a nice whistle noise coming from the front of the intake manifold... i tightened up that little black box towards the bottom behind the alt. ...... can anyone help me out with this? if i spray starting fluid near that little box and the vacuum line thats come off of each intake runner and combines into one , then it will straighten up and run good..... but i dont get why.... it looks like its sealed good.... any suggestions??? Also i removed emmisions and the secondary butterflies but im almost positive that all this was done correctly.... its just a vacuum leak somewhere.... anyone else ever had this problem??

Is there a leak where the upper intake manifold meets the lower runners? I think theres little rubber discs that seal them...

im pretty sure not.... it has something to do with either that box behind the alternator or the 4 lines that come off the upper portion and connect to 1 and go to that box.... its somewhere on there i think..... so... im not sure... also i didnt cap the vacuum lines and Charcoal canister lines that i took off.... i didnt think this would be a problem.... would this be it? Im at school right now but im going to plug them once i get home.... thanks for your help.

When you removed the secondary butter fly's did you replace the screw that holds the rod in? This will cause your problem and make the whistling sound. It is a very small screw located between 2nd and 3rd runner.

Good luck!
