hello to all my fellow nissian owners!!! proud owner of a 91 pathfinder,03 xterra,06 altima!!my question is my 03 xterra is overheating at idle put cools down when u icrease the rpm's any thaught???

Check your clutch fan and see if it's working properly, and check the belt condition and tension while you're at it.

Check Thermostat.

Does you radiator have an abundant collection of bugs and debris between some of the fins? It may need cleaning with a gentle hose washing

All 3 of these items have been encountered by members of my local Nissan 4x4 Club and the dirt/bugs in my rad caused my hot idle problem.

I'm sure there are a few other items that a NICO member of two can think of as well.

BB nailed it.

I'd recommend pulling the radiator and cleaning the condenser / radiator throughly.

Meantime, you can flush the system and change the t-stat as a preventative measure.
