Hello everyone. My name is Tim and I live in Arizona. Just bought a red 87 300ZX and look forward to your input as I repair this beauty. Needs brakes badly. I think the rear passenger side might have big problems as the parking brake does not work. Mechanic said all the calipers need to be replaced. I will look into that. Car sat for three years undriven. Did a major tuneup myself and it runs great. Will attempt emission test tomorrow. Tough to start when cold. Any advice, comments or other input would be greatly appreciated. The only real mechanic experience is restoring a 74 MG Midget. This Nissan has got to be easier!!!!

I have found some parts are not readily available. Did find complete front and rear calipers complete, pads, clips, shims already installed, at AutoZone for $125 per pair or $250 complete. I will check the rotors to determine if there is any meat on them for turning. The struts look good but I suspect the wheel bearings are not adjusted properly or just plain bad. I will keep you updated.

I'd look into the FICV

Fast Idle Control Valve, itit's in the side of the intake, it speeds the engine up when cold ro when the a/c gets turned on, if you idle is fine once warmed up I'd syusped ad dirty, clogged ro non functioning FICV
