Have a 97 with 115k on the clock on the way to me.

Ordered a set of 20" KMC Novas in a machined finish.

I'm sure I'll have lots of stupid questions for the group.

Welcome to NICO!

Nice looking Q. There are links in my signature to Import Alliance 08 (in Nashville - '2008NICOFEST Nashville') and NOPI Nats (in ATL - '2008 NICOFEST at NOPI Nats'). Just some info for you since you are in TN. Plus there is a link to the VIP forum, if that interests you. Not a lot of people here in the Q section appreciate VIP, so I am sure there will be some comments coming up.

Let me guess there might be 2 of them.

Nice Q buddy.

Please post a pic once the wheels are installed. I'd love to hang 5 spokes on my ride and none of the wheel/tire sites I use have a Q picture to simulate the image.

Very Impaired Performance is so lame compared to real world performance!

Most important is the tire choice, then find a llight strong wheel that meets or exceeds OEM specifications on which to mount them. There is a tire sticky in Infiniti General and tire track has lots of information including a gallery of their wheels on the FGY33.

I always find it interesting when people are so obsessed with how the wheels appear when the car is not being operated (i.e. - stationary) rather than appearance when it is operating dynamically at speed. Maybe that is because the owner can't see them while he is driving? Hmmmm.........

I need someone to drive along side of my Q and take pics of it driving.

Those are nice wheels i was thinking about getting those before but i went with a different wheel. what width and offset did you go with? whoever said they like the original wheels more i couldnt disagree more. i find the stock Q wheels hideous. they look like spare wheels with a silver finish.

I'm fairly simple. Just going to do 20 x 8.5 38mm offset. It appears the wheels will get here before the car.

I like he VIP style, but not my style. I usually lower whatever I buy, but am unsure if its going to happen on the Q. I'll get you a photo when it all comes together.

Well, Brian, since you always do your research, you should know that VIP in the sense that we are going for, is NOT an acronym. Thus, the 'Very Impaired Performance' actually means nothing. Most VIP (pronounced bippu, not vee-eye-pee) mods are actually cosmetic, and not really geared towards performance. So, get over yourself.

Lewis

I can respect that VIP is not your style. Honestly, my sig does not even begin to reflect VIP. However, the VIP section will be there if you have any questions that may be more towards a styling aspect.

Thanks for the info on VIP. There are several things in there that I really like and actually might do, but not full bore.

Hoping to meet up with everyone at Nashville.

Which is why it is Very Impaired Performance. No fan boy here!

If it doesn't improve dynamic performance, your just talking about shades of lipstick on a pig. But if you think your car's highest calling is as an overly ornamented doorstop, go for it.

Check out all the VIP in DTM racing next time!

I don't mean to offend anyone with this, but it is my car....lol. I have several other rides that address my slight perfromance itch. I consider my Q as my luxury ride. Honestly, if it was a "performance" vehicle I was after, I would have bought an G coupe (or the like). Nothing I intend to do to my Q will degrade the capabilities the vehicle had when it left the line.

Having grown up in So Cal I usually do things a certain way....slightly lowered stance, lower profile tires keeping the same rolling circumfrence as stock, debadged, etc. Thats my style and thats what keeps any group interesting....viva la' differance! How awful would a car show be if we all did the same crap?

Just because something does not suit you does not make it wrong. And thats all I have to say about that.

I would never debadge because1.) few know what a Q45 is anyway, and 2.) I want the MB, Audi and BMW owners to know what just blew by them.

Seriously, this same argument has happened 10,000 friggin times on this board.

Some like the VIP style of the Q45 and modify it as such. Others see it as pointless and potentially detrimental to a car's performance. Neither person is wrong. It's an opinion and a matter of personal taste.

Now can we please just grow up and quit bickering like schoolgirls?

P.S. Grats on the new car. Be sure to post pics with new wheels when you get them.

Should we not be bashing another brand rather than ourselves? Now lets all hold hands, sing Koom-bye-ah and roast some German engineering.

You know, this may be the first car that I don't debadge. Infiniti managed to keep the logos clean and simple. Now my Dodge pickup on the other hand picked up one mile per gallon after I stripped all that crap off.
