Hey guys, my name is nick. I'm from Clinton NC, and I'm interested in a 2008-2011 white coupe 3.5l altima. Love these cars man, just trying to decide if it's what I really want. (let the criticizing begin) I'm a toyota guy, I've had my Tacoma since 2005(1999 single cab PreRunner lifted not lowered) and just think it's time to move on. I'm new to the car world in a sense. I know a little but no where near what you guys do I'm sure. Anyways I'll stop rambling. I'm trying to decide between getting another truck, an altima, or a honda civic SI or Accord coupe V6. But after looking at some of your guys rides, I really like these. The stillen front kit, LED Projector headlights/eyelids looks amazing to me. Anything you guys can do to help or inform would greatly be appreciated.

Welcome aboard!

I'll let the Alty Coupe crowd welcome you properly, and give you some insight... but those guys LOVE their cars. It's a lot of car for the money - I don't know anyone with an Z/C who's been disappointed with it.

Glad you're here!

Welcome Nick! I can tell you that you won't be disappointed with an AC!. I'm not a toyota guy but historically I owned acuras but the vehicle I had before this was an 07 FJ Cruiser. Bought that new in end of 06, by Sept. of 07 I bought the AC and never looked back. There's guys on here that have boosted their cars, both CVT and 6MT and guys who have mild modifications. I'm sure they will be chiming in soon enough. Anyway WHEN you get your AC, post up pics! I should also mention that one of the first mods you should get is the "Dangeris Projector" headlights :naughty: Those things are just dang sexy! :chuckle:

OH BTW, you should really consider to go to NICO FEST! It's in carlisle PA. Guys come from ALL OVER to enjoy the event and the shenanigans that go with it! :yesnod

Welcome aboard!

I will chime in as I have owned three different A/Cs to date. (I am picky, perhaps dumb too, but I have learned a lot.)

First, let me tell you that as far as a good blend of practicality, sportiness, and comfortability while staying competitive with technology options, the Altima Coupe is second to none in my opinion. If you're looking preowned, a '10 3.5 with premium and leather packages can be found for around $25-27,000 here in the southeast. For nearly 300 hp, bose audio, HID projector headlights, sunroof, bluetooth, and iPod interface, I find that to be driving a very hard bargain.

Not sure if you're an enthusiast of any sorts or how your driving conditions are, but I prefer the 6MT. It is much harder to find, however. If you're one that likes driving manual, wait until you find one. Don't settle for the CVT.

On the other hand, the CVT is a very nice transmission. Very comfortable (and takes some getting used to from conventionally geared transmissions.) If you want a CVT, I highly recommend sticking with the '10 and up. It has the same setup as the Maxima that gives you regular, sport, and manual modes for driving. I enjoyed it more than my '08 CVT by far.

If you're looking for heavy performance mods (i.e. forced induction), go manual. There are CVT guys that have done this, but the manual is a better platform all around for you to go this route. It's tried and true, and the transmission can handle the extra power. The CVT does not do well with much more than bolt on power adders (sometimes, it doesn't do well with even those, but that's only been few cases). The 6MT available also has an option for you to swap in an HLSD from the 04-06 maxima if you choose to.

Looks wise, I prefer the 10 as well. The hood, headlights, and front fascia are the only changes besides the baseline Bose system without nav (added an LCD screen for backup camera and ipod interface). Mechanically, the 08 is the same as every one that succeeded it to date (except the CVT options that were introduced with the 10).

I could go on all day, but hopefully that info helps you a bit. If you have any other questions, shout back!

Good luck with your search!

Thanks guys. If I end up getting one man I'll definately have to look into going to carlisle and learn a few things. As far as getting a 2010 6mt... I don't know, I've never driven a manual. I could learn but, I'd hate to get one to learn on know what I mean? And the price ehh mid to upper 20's is a little high for me at the moment, looking for more in the mid to upper teens. I know that's not a lot of money but law enforcement isn't a money train around here Lol. Now I'm not sure even what color I want. I said white but I keep looking and I just can't decide between white black red or that dark gray. I'm just scared to get a car after having a truck for so long and having the withdrawals of not having the luxury of going where I want all the time. Like right now if I want to go drive out on the beach I can, or if i have to throw something in the bed I can. But my gf has a Hyundai Tiburon with the auto/manual transmission and I love bumping it over into the manual and gliding through the gears every once in a while. I know I talk a lot guys but I just want to make sure I get it right, a lot of money we're talking about.

w/ur budget, I'd suggest getting an '08 model. Looks wise, the AC trumps the accord/civic coupes. If u want a daily driver and add minor mods, then the AC is for u. If u have the need for speed, better look for a Z or honda u can tune. Aftermarket parts are limited and the CVT/handling are nothing to write home about. Personally, I love my AC.

Not to undermine the forum, but get a 2008 3.5 Coupe (should be easy to find in the mid-teens), have fun with it for a while, and then when the gas prices get too high roundabout 2012, hop on back to Toyota:

Set to release right about when I'm getting out of law school. If my car's paid off by then, I'm not even gonna trade in! Coupe'll be my DD, FT-86'll be my summer fun.
