Hello All -

I'm about to take delivery of a 1992 Q45. I'm a bit pumped, since I don't get new cars too often - I'm 26 and this is just my third car. I expect to own this car for as long as it will last without exceeding its value in repair costs.

I am relieved to find a Nissan forum powered by Zeroforum. I'm a moderator on Honda-Tech and the ZF software is easily the best.

By day, I work at Roadfly.com, and write/produce content for their website (car reviews in written and video format). We have a very good relationship with Infiniti; I went to the Rogue preview in DC and have reviewed four Nissan products (Versa, Sentra, M35x, and M45 Sport) during my time there.

If you'd like to check out my videos, subscribe to our youtube channel ("roadflytv"). There you'll find my M45 review. Go ahead and laugh because it was my first time ever on camera.

I hope this place will help me as much with my Q as H-T did for my Hondas.

With chain guide update alone, you will already exceed or match the value. Many members will tell you currently need to invest at least 3K in repairs as is. Don't let it scare you too much, there are many ways to skin a cat and my 230K+ 90' runs as good as some of the best out there with nowhere near that kind of investment.

Welcome.... and see me for parts (used) when you need em... I deal squarely and fairly.

Well, you just bought a $48K car (in 1992 dollars!), so value is a personal thing. Many of us have been looking for a better car for more than 10 years. Most of us haven't found it yet.

Read all of Q45tech's post and I guarantee you will be taking some of the information back to the Honda forums. There is a txt file of his early post in Infiniti General, and I have a Word file of his early posts from the immediate predecessor of this forum. Many of us own or have owned Acuras and Hondas.

In my opinion, only the owner can put a value on a car. What may be worth 2K on nada might be priceless to the owner. Cars proven over and over to last upwards of 16 years, (Q's) with timeless elegance and performance will always be worth more than these overpriced underdeveloped 5yr lifespan tuna cans they're selling these days!

That being said, Welcome to the forum. I too appreciate getting my monies worth as I am on my third car at 32. I also own (wifes car) a 91 Legend we've had for 10 years so I'll probably be tip toeing to your forum as well

Take your time and search through the forum and listen to the advice of the masters. It will turn your Q experience into a worthwhile investment.

Hey Ross. Nice to have you here with us. Be sure to post pics of your car when you can and in the meantime try to find out as much as possible of the repair history if you can.

Hi Lino - my car actually looks like just like yours, although I think yours is probably a little cleaner.

I think I may have found a pretty decent example - the car has been owned by one old lady all its life, and was maintained at only two places - the dealer and a foreign car service center. The lady's son is a stand-up guy (he's selling the car for her) and works in some kind of managerial capacity at the VW/Audi place near my house.

There is apparently a full set of service records forthcoming. Money has not changed hands yet, but an agreement has been made. The price can't be beat so I decided to jump. The car looks very well-kept and runs quite strongly even at higher speeds. Sunroof and all assorted mechanical crap works, although the A/C display is spotty.

Hi Drew, thanks for the welcome. I am reasonably confident that my car isn't in that "needs $3K of work" club just yet, unless I've been totally misled about something. I certainly don't mind putting $$ into it, though. I have asked the owner about the timing chain guides, and he said he would look at the records and get back to me. I should read a little bit more about the issue before discussing it further, though.

I'm going to do some homework tonight in this forum. Will update with pics and all the rest as the deal wraps up.
