Greetings everyone, I live in FL and I have owned my '95 J30 three years. We have been through a lot together the past three years....it has been stolen and pillaged, disabled by a pot hole, and even smashed by an on-duty sheriff.... Otherwise, this has been the best car I have owned. I love my J30. I've have kept the customization of my J to a minimum. I am more concerned keeping my car running good and sounding nice. With the exception of the FX rims, all mods have been audio related. That leads me to my first question. My rear view mirror rattles horribly due to the bass in my trunk. I have tried to fix this by 1.) sealing the mirror and its housing with silicone, 2.) inserting felt between the mirror and its housing, and 3.) trying to insulate the inside of the mirror housing with dynamat. Nothing seems to work. Is this normal or should I look into getting another mirror? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I have also attached a pic of my J30 for all to see.

Nice car, for the mirror I used a piece of hard hose, cut down to size, and wedge it between the mirror and the glass. Should fix the rattles.

There is actually a little nipple on the glass side of the mirror plastic, the host fits in there perfect.

BTW those FX rims really set it off on that car.

Yeah I do like those rims too, are those the 18's or the 20's that come on the FX?

Nice rims dude. I got bass in my trunk to so I been meaning to ask someone about this. My mirror rattles, but I don't really care (I like the way it looks it makes it feel like I am rattling the sidewalk) the problem I have is with the trunk metal rattling and the spoiler rattling against the trunk. It doesn't sound so bad to me, but when I am outside the car I feel sorry for anyone who has to be next to me cause it sounds like my car is farting. Not pretty at all. Do you have dynomat or something it your setup or what? I got 2 12 inch kickers and a 1500 watt amp.

I took the time to apply Dynamat to the trunk lid. It did muffle the rattle a little, but most of my rattle actually comes from the rear bumper and the centerpiece in between the tail lamps.

I also removed all of the plastic moldings and carpeting in the trunk, except for the plastic piece that is across the top of the back part of the trunk. This adds a little more space, but does not really affect the sound quality.

So in conclusion, I feel your pain. I only have one 12, but it is powered by a 1500 watt amp and rattles the outside of my trunk just as much as the pair of 12's I had prior.

In the coming months, I plan to gut my trunk and start over. If I find any good rattle dampening techniques, I post them.

Whatever, to be honest I never really cared much cause it sounds beautiful inside, but if I turn my highs down it makes me want to throw up. J30s are known for there cheap feeling body panels (door sounds like tin foil when you slam it) so thats why I never invested any money in trying to fix the inevitable.
