WHO DAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Wherya at BLACK STALLION!!!

I'm presently also looking to replace all 4 struts and mounts (rear end is bouncy as can be)and I was wondering what price for labor I should be looking at if I provide the struts and mounts. Although Ray Brandt Infiniti is really good about my car(one of their techs owns a 93 Q), but as with any stealership, they will invariably be expensive. My Q is a base model without traction control or active suspension. Firestone told me there aren't any aftermarket parts for the Q so that tells me how much they know...they will not touch this car. Their rep. told me that it would be $5K to do the whole suspension for a non TC or active car and the dealer would have to do it....I can get a set of tokico Blues from EBAY shipped for $260. I would just have to get new mounts from Joe in Scottsdale. Any input would be great. Thanks. Boris P.

Hey Boris, I put in a call to my Q guy on the suspension parts and I'll let you know what he quotes when he calls me back. As far as Firestone and the likes, experience tells me that unless I personally know an individual there, not to even let them check my tire pressure.

I had an '84 Volvo 242GLT in high school that I took to Wal-Mart for an oil change. When it was done the little guy was about to start it up when I told him that the turbo was oil cooled and had to be properly primed to avoid damage to the teflon bearings. He told me he did this all day everyday and he knew what he was doing. Long story short, his S.A. overheard and told him I was right and unless he wanted to spring $1500 for a new turbo he had better listen.

That was the point I began doing my own work and will until the day I die

Also it's great therapy for me as well!

Might see what Joe's price is for the whole thing.

Firestone is death at your door.

Thanks fellas, I'll call Joe in the morning and price out 4 struts, mounts, bump stops, exhaust hangers, and a transmission mount. Ive restored 2 VW Sciroccos in the past and Ive done suspensions as well, but it's a PITA. However, doing it myself, I know it will get done right. There is an import car care shop in Metairie, LA.(Tim's Automotive) that has a great rep from most people I've talked to. I'll call them as well to see if they would do the labor on my Q and for how much. If not, in the garage it goes and I can crank the stereo as loud as I want, because my closest neighbor in their trailer is a block away . My neighborhood (Gentilly) is still quite empty----just a lot of gutted homes in disrepair---lots of Nouveau Insurance Riche peeps with new Land Rovers on an extended vacation when they should be fixing their homes....sorry, almost on a rant. It's a proven fact that KMFDM and White Zombie in the background when repairing your car will add at least 200HP....J/K. I'll keep you guys posted and thanks again for all the input. Boris P. Cheers!!
