Hello, Im jess. I live in Auburn, AL and currently drive a 92 prelude S

My prelude pictures

Its big, heavy, slow and FWD. I want a RWD car that doesnt require a large initial investment.

So that brings it down to 240sx, miata, and RX7

(I want to spend less than $2k for the car)

I dont feel like learning all of the in's and out's of a rotary, and a guy driving a miata...well...you know..people get the wrong idea :icesangel

So, looks like im in the market for a very used 240sx. Interior doesnt matter as I will probably gut the crap out of it.

So, i figure I can find a 90-92 in okay condition for <$2000.

My question is, are there particular years that are better than others?

Do SR20's fit easier in some years as opposed to others?

Any info would be appreciated, even if its just a link to an FAQ.

Thanks,Jess

If your doing a swap, then just get whatever has the best body , and no frame damage.....only MAJOR differences is the KA24e vs. the KA24de, (single overhead cam vs. dual overhead cam), but if your swapping it, then obviously it doesnt really matter...

For less than 2000 bucks you should be able to find a VERY nice 89-94 240sx I got mine basically for free (1 dollar) and i havent had any problems with it. It has some dents and dings, but mechanically it is sound. But definately go for one with a nice straight body and if its a hatch back, check under the spoiler for rust- big problem with 240s.

Well, the swap wouldnt be immediate.

I would probably run the stock motor + cheap intake and slap some light wheels on it while i save up for the swap

I will look with one with a KA24de unless i can find a SOHC for a lot cheaper. Thanks for the advice!

Great deal, but i've got an even better one for you. I'll give you 10 times what you paid for it. Thats 1000% profit!!!. lol

Thanks for the info. I'll check for rust like you said.

Hehe thanks for the offer but I love my 240. Originally, I stumbled upon it and knew nothing about 240's/silvia's/180's. I only picked it up because it was an extremely cheap mode of transportation. But now it has grown into an obsession. Ever since i got it in june i have done nothing but read about it and work on it and post on here. Plus i have put alot of money into it already. Peace.

Hey J92s, you live in Auburn? Thats pretty cool. I live in Phenix City, its like 25 minutes away from where I live. I go up there sometimes, but not as much now because I just wrecked my car. Nice prelude by the way. With all of that money you put in the stereo of your prelude, you could have gotten a nice S13 right there.
