Hello there... I am new to this forum and this is the first time i write here. I have a problem and would be glad if someone canhelp me.

I have a 05 pathfinder r51 4.0 with 160k on the odo. Recently a loud knocking sound came up snd could be heard clearly from 20 meters away(like heavy knocking sound). I took it to the technician and he said to me probably something in tbe engine is broken. He then removed the engine and saw that a piston rod is broken and the cylinder head is cracked from the bottom. He told me that I need a new engine.

Here were I live (Lebanon) I can not trust any place that sells used parts because they do not tell you how much is the mileage and how the car was being kept and maintained and they don't do tests, so that's why I prefer to ship it from Usa.
So the question is, does the vq40de engine of the 2012 model year pathfinder is the exact same one as the vq40de in the 2005 model? I am asking this because I found one in denver 2012 model running only 33,000 miles. And if not what could be the differences between these 2 engines?
Thanks in advance

Other more experienced members here can correct me if I'm wrong, but this should be the same engine.

You'll want to make sure you get the entire engine, harness, and ECU for the 2012 engine. There have likely been minor updates to the VQ40DE in the 2012, but nothing major that would prevent a swap.
