Picked up a 2006 with 102km on it and just had some questions that I hope you guys can answer.

1. The horn sounds off. it still makes a noise when i press the steering wheel and lock the car via remote but not what a horn should sound like. Can I buy a 12v like these

http://www.princessauto.com/en/b/traile ... s/N-j4yc7k

and should they be plug and play? Do I need two or one?

2. Can I add Navigation and/or MP3 reading capability to it?

3. The owner had the OEM DVD player swapped out to play Region 2 DVDs only. Is there a way to get it back to Region 1 (North American) other than buying a Region 1 DVD player and swapping it back?

4. Where do you guys recommend for online OEM parts?

1. horns are in front so open the hood and look for debris tucked in there.

search fleabay or nissan online parts shops for horn replacements. you can even put train and truck horns on!

2. you can only add aftermarket devices. you can not add any factory/OEM nav devices. going aftermarket will give you more flexibility and features anyway. stop at your local radio electronics shop--they can suggest something that fits your needs.

3. buy a region one player. you can easily pick up one used at salvage yards and/or fleabay

4. they all carry the same parts so find a place that has the cheapest shipping.

should be able to but they must be burned to a set of specs the player can decode...

Have a inspection with some required maintenance for a QX56. Things include:
-Replace left&right exhaust manifold

-Perform power steering fluid flush&change.

-Horn inoperable - can i buy a horn from princess auto and replace the stock one?

-Replace power steering pressure hose
replace serpentine belt.

-perform brake fluid flush.

not sure what you are asking there, but you can replace the horn. you need one with the same specs or similar as the stocker.

go to a salvage yard and look for one there. the armada of the same year has the same horn...

a quick google shows exhaust manifolds are prone to replacement on these vehicles. Can I get this fixed at a exhaust shop or should I goto a full mechanic?

Whats the reason of two horns under the hood?

the two horns are to give off a louder sound. one is slightly detuned from the other...

there are some cats who have train or truck horns on their rides!

yes the manifolds will give you issues and yes any competent exhaust shop can fabricate something for you.

NM - found here. 1L for PSF but no number for the brake fluid. Anyone know?

But that clock location is baffling, especially when you have a screen right there

Just got back from a exhaust shop and got the s*** news that both manifolds need to be replaced. And with catylact convertors in them, im looking at 1900$ just for the 2 manifolds alone.

yep sounds right.
try a second opinion though as the swap is not that difficult for an independent sop to do.

yeah shop manual can be found here or at x dot infinifithelp dot com

going with a backyard mechanic and rockauto for the parts. saving 1300$ going that route.

Is there anyway of putting a clock on the main screen?!

if you dont have it in the options (under settings i believe) then no. i think this appeared on the 208 models as an option but my memory is fuzzy on that part...

never had an issue. was a dvd with a stick on label? have you inserted this exact dvd in before and did you have any issues then?

any issues with other discs?

something to test: put your ear up to the dvd slot and press the eject button with the car in the ON position (engine does not need to be running).

if you hear a motor/whirring sound, the disc eject motor is working.

if no sound, you have a (rare) potential problem with that.

can you even play the disc inside? can you use the HU's other features (gps, radio, usb, etc)?

DO NOT STICK anything in the slot!!! worse case you may have to remove the HU to get the dvd out.

could be the unit is becoming faulty....

took out the entire unit and put it on it side and it came out easy. guessing the cd label was causing issues once inside the unit

yes stuck on disc labels can peel off just enough to do this. glad it was something easy to fix...
