hey guys, i just bought this car:

has 148K miles on it along with oem clutch but it shifts crisp and the clutch catches quick and tight. got it for 1500cash. however its not inspected and theres the typical rust spots under the spoiler unfortunately . anybody got a rustless hatch i can pickup locally ? as well as a rustless hood?

other than the rust spot under the spoiler theres a small piece right by the drivers side rear lower panel. It just needs new tires(which I got from a friend) and new brakes and it should be ready for the road. The only hard parts for the time being is finding a replacement rustless spoiler. The valves may need adjustment as it’s a tad loud and theres a slight misfire anything above 3K RPMs, so I’ll be doing a tune-up on that along with changing the motor oil, transmission fluid, and the rearend fluid. any suggestions and help si greatly appreciated!!!

haha I have never heard of a 240 not misfiring underload or over 3k as far as I know misfiring is normal on a ka.

i'll remove the visor. the lil bra up front i checked b4 the rain started and it has a s*** ton of mud and dirt built up in there. wouldnt surprise me if theres rust underneath there as well which if i can find another hood for a decent price i can swap it out.

started reading up on the newbie section and noticed about the marble in the tin can sound which the car's making on my car. im currently reading on this how to remove the platic guideshttp://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=105618however am i running any risk if i just drive it how it is for the time being?

edit-also since mines a hatchback does it have the LSD or does the SE fastbacks were the only ones?

ive never had a miss on the 4 ka's ive owned. i dont know whats up with the dude above. if its missing, you have a problem, its not a normal ka function. just give it a full tune up and make sure all your grounds are good and your battery/alternator are up to par.

funny you should mention me josh, i found out earlier today that i already know the op.

freeman, i just emailed you back about the hatch, i also have stock rear calipers since i saw you needed brakes. i'm not sure what shape your sunroof is in, but im selling a perfect one with weather stripping, and the little metal brackets that always break. i haven't messed with a ka in a while so i'm not the one you want to ask about timing chain guide removal. but i know, didderson did his, its not hard so i'd be happy to give you a hand sometime.

Actually dude I have a rustless hood charcoal grey. It has a few dings but its been sitting in the garage since jeff let me have his old cf hood.

I have old KA timing chain gears/parts chains etc also. Probably a tensioner too.

thanks guys . jeff i sent u an email reply about the hatch. the brakes, i just need to get new front pads since the brake pedal feels kinda sloppy to come to a complete stop. jason and i are planning on tackling the timing chain guide this friday when i get off work since the weather looks freaking awesome. anyone interested can call and stop by and give a hand. once thats out of teh way i can shoot for next week to get it inspected and haveit on the road legally

update:took a bit to get it ready for inspection(emissions passed with np). just needed the hatch replaced($50), muffler hangers attached/welded(only 2 spots)(costed $60), ebrake adjustment(free), and battery tie-down($5). theres a bit of rust spot on the rear driver side quarter panel but i can bondo it up and a bit of rust underneath where the driver side is right near the transmission(prolly will spray rust-cleaner or whatever its called). could prolly find a cheap front bumper as well to rplace the chipped bumper thats on there now. the only high cost was that i had it taken to a transmission shop and the pilot bearing and bushing went out along with the master cylinder and i had them install a low mileage centerforce clutch in the process which totalled $475 . other than that im gonna replace the transmission and diff fluid and continue driving it around and prolly replace the bushings on the suspension and get some top strut braces for the front/rearand front/rear sway bars for stability and prolly a cheap CAI.

how it is now currently:

iirc your paint is aztec red since its a chuki. i'd ask around and see if someone else with the same color found a matching red spray paint. i foud a paint that matches my red, but mine is hot red.

thanks, thats my pop's gto. its an 05 A4. only got like 20K miles on her and has a volant cai, and thats pretty much it. the other one behind it is my 98 pontiac gtp with a mild cam and other mods done to it.
