I recently came back from mechanic where he discovered my Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor has gone bad.
I look up this part and I am looking at $240 just for the part and I am freaking out hoping you all can suggest a cheaper fix. I have yet to visit a junk yard to see if I find one for a reasonable price so I can here in the mean time, hoping to get some ideas from someone who has gone through the same
:bs:

By the way, I own a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder with a 3.5L V6

Here is the part number. If anyone can help me find it elsewhere for cheap, I would greatly appreciate it.

Moved to Pathfinder Forum.
The cheapest one I've found is still pricey:

You might have better luck with a junk yard.

Is there an aftermarket source ? It does not seem to be a high failure rate part -- so going used may be an option if you can do it yourself.

I'm always reluctant with some sensors going aftermarket -- just went through this with my ABS sensors. With the age of these cars now -- anything is a possibility.

There's usually 4 or 5 and sometimes more than a dozen R50 Pathfinders and QX4s at our local pick-your-part (LQK), with whole pedal assemblies for ~$30. Should be fairly easy to get used.

During this time period the Altima shared quite a few parts with the Pathys. For instance, I have a replacement light switch on my steering column that came out of an Altima. So if you take time to check, you may find they are the same part. Altima parts are cheaper in most cases.

Here is an Altima listing on Ebay:

So if the part is visually identical, it is likely the same part. The part number changes because the Altima has a different ID in the Nissan system than the Pathfinder.

It will probably also save money at the wrecking yard if you ask for an Altima part.

If you try this idea, let us know the answer!
