Thank you. I don't have a problem going to the dealer for this, but my gripe is I don't want to run OEM fluid. I'm a believer in amsoil and it meets recommendation for our transmissions. I doubt they would not external fluid for the procedure.

As for the transmission its "sealed" and apparently very hard to replace the fluid dealership recommends it at 60,000. My transmission went bad and i got it replaced under warranty so i didn't need new fluid but its around 200$ at the dealer for a trans flush i think. I think there's a do it yourself guide for the rear diff fluid i changed it on mine a while ago currently at 60,000.
I think it was a one off problem. Never heard of anyone getting my problem.(car would jerk heavily/not even shift had to have it towed to the dealership)Moveitsmikey wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2018 8:02 pmKprad12 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2018 3:53 pmThe sport models come with limited slip diffs i think. Wow that's odd. I would of thought these are fairly reliable transmissions. Did I make a mistake buying one now? Sure hope not.. Love mine...
Oh wow. Almost sounds like a manufacturing defect. My sister has a 2013 rav 4 and her transmission went out just before her warranty ended. I think hers was doing the same thing..Kprad12 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2018 6:54 pmI think it was a one off problem. Yeah im so happy that i made it in before my warranty ended. It would've been very expensiveMoveitsmikey wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2018 12:50 pmOh wow. Almost sounds like a manufacturing defect. Thanks a lot! I will get some uploaded soon. Interior and all. I'm loving the color. It looks great under the sun.. Hey quick question is this forum supported on tapatalk? Or maybe a Facebook group? I hate navigating through the website...
Hey thanks Andy.Malbec 56 Beast wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2018 4:05 pmMicheal,
I'm not a fan of the factory fluids, in fact I asked the Nissan dealer and they didn't even use the factory stuff. The cost is way too much.
I changed out the front and rear diffs, transfer case and transmission all with Amsoil. I love that stuff, I know everyone has a favorite but I really like the stuff. I went to the Nissan dealer due to a cheaper price and I could bring in my own fluids. I've also come to know and trust their master mechanic and is the only person I have trust working on my car.
The transmission is a sealed system and is a drain and fill only, plus the mechanics connect some computers up and based on temp and other data it drains fluid at a certain rate.
Let us know how it goes and welcome and good luck.
Andy
When I search nicoclub the only result that shows is frontierclub.org there is q50 and q70 category amongst others but no actual nicoclub, not a group on facebook either. This site is so slow every time I type it lags horribly. I hate it
Probably because not many people actually ask those questions so they just go with what's recommended.Malbec 56 Beast wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2018 4:18 pmThat's weird, I was told by Nissan and Infiniti that our cars are only drain and fill.
I really like this stuff, I feel way more configurable with Amsoil than any factory stuff.
Good luck

Larz wrote: ↑Sat Mar 03, 2018 9:40 amI always use the dealer for this service. I don't want anyone messing about with such an expensive part of my car. Plus, I have a warranty and I don't want to give them any chance to say I used the wrong fluid, etc and deny any claims. I'm past 100k miles and it still shifts like new. Warranty goes to 150k so if it does go titz-up, only the dealer has accessed it and the service records for ALL maintenance is well documented ion their own system.
It is only drain and fill, according to the FSM. No way in hell I would flush this transmission, regardless of what the dealer says about mileage.Malbec 56 Beast wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2018 4:18 pmThat's weird, I was told by Nissan and Infiniti that our cars are only drain and fill.

Thats what's recommended. Which is what the majority of people do. I've flushed several transmissions in cars I owned, even high mileage and it was fine. As long as the fluid isn't burnt and you have no shifting issues flushing is okay. You can flush on these, I had it already looked at which I'm in the process this week to do.armybrat wrote: ↑Mon Mar 05, 2018 11:32 amIt is only drain and fill, according to the FSM.
