Hey guys,
Im currently in the process of purchasing a 1984 z31 N/A (not running, fuel pump issue) and just wanted to introduce myself and also get any info on notorious issues with these cars! Btw im also a mechanic myself with plenty of performance training so if anyone needs info or formulas for turbo mapping, tuning, suspension geometry please let me know!

Welcome to NICO Rick.
Common issues with the Z31, well, rear crossmember bushings, Power steering leak (due to boneheads using power steering fluid instead of the correct atf) HVAC vac dashpots and rust is abotu all that comes to mind. They really are well built and durable cars, if the timing belt gets changed they'll run dang near forever. XenonZ31.com and az-zbum.com are a couple of great resourses when dealing with the z31.
