Hey guys

Just bought a brand new 2010 altima coupe 2.5 in black a few weeks ago. My first new car i bought myself and have never modded or even put rims on a car, so just wanted to get some questions answered by some vets.

First thing i wanna do is put new rims on it. I read the thread about the rims and fitments but literally know nothing about that kinda stuff, like tire size and such, Wanna go 19 by 8 or 8.5. What is a good tire size for these??? Assuming i dont wana lower it cause i definitely dont wanna void my warranty.

Also im gonna debage it soon. Was wondering if there is a way to black out my back nissan symbol? Gonna black out the front grill too and wanted to know if its better to put vinyl on it or plasti paint black (just worried about it chipping i guess).

Also would an aftermarket air intake and exhaust void my warranty??

I know a lot of basic questions but would appreciate any help.

Thanks for any help/advice

Alright, Since you dont want to lower your car, 20" rims will close that enormous gap better than the 19"; however, if your planning on sticking to 19" then 19x8.5 +30-35 all around would be good. For tires, I have 245/35/19 hankook v12 evos and I like them. If you want a beefer tire then go 245/40/19.

If you want to black out your nissan symbol just floss it off and plasti-dip it; idk how else. The chrome edge on the grille I plied it off and vinyl wrapped it matte black. It took me like 10 min (very, very easy). Although, plastidipping your grille will have a much cleaner and smoother effect and If you plastidip it good, then i shouldnt chip.

Intake and exhaust shouldnt void the warranty. I have a nismo exhaust and that's oem so that wont void my warranty.

Welcome to NICO!

As far as wheels go, check out the wheel/tire forum to get a look at what a lot of guys are doing. There are endless discussions on wheel/tire sizes, offsets, etc. Lots of great information over there.

As far as the warranty goes, look at it this way. Let's say you have a few aftermarket parts on your car (intake, exhaust). If you have a part fail and it is determined that the aftermarket part you installed is the direct cause of the failure, then they will void warranty for that part. (Say for example you have an engine failure because a part of the BrandX intake you have was sucked into the engine in some freak occurrence). If you put an aftermarket exhaust on your car and you have a strut blow out, they can't say your struts blew because you changed mufflers. (unless they weigh like 8500 pounds or something, lol)

Read up and shout with any other questions!

Thanks a lot for the help guys!

Anyone who has plasti-dipped their front grill with any advice on the best way to do it (paint type, how many coats, etc) and how it has held up so far would love some input.

Couple things I see here.
1. 20's on a non-lowered car actually makes the car look/ride higher, and no, you still have the nasty wheel gap.
2. you do not need to remove the emblems/chrome pieces to plastidip them. I did it without removal, see link below (ignore the thread title, it's before I changed it).

3. Intake and exhaust will not void your warranty unless the dealership proves that they are the direct cause of the malfunction (see Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975). Though the minute the dealership denies your warranty claim, the burden is then placed on you to take legal action.

PlastiDip (there is only one kind), 4 coats, allow each coat to completely dry before applying the next coat. Don't bother taking the badges off then putting them back on, it's a waste of time. Just look at the link I posted above. Same thing goes with the grille, just make sure you use something like an x-acto knife to cut the plastidip away from the gap between the chrome and rest of the grille, since i don't think it's enough of a curve to cause the plastidip break on contact.

Lastly, WELCOME TO NICO!! :mike

right on thanks for the advice and the link buddy.

so u only tape off around the emblems basically and then spray it on and the plasti dip peels off the paint of the car inbetween the emblems? or did u use tape and tape off every crevice that had paint inbetween the altima sign and nissan sign?

You can pull out the emblems as long as you are careful. They will pop off, but be careful dont pull to hard.

as far as rims Id get 19" but still drop it. It wont void your warrenty and your car will look much better. plus Downedzephyr has some eibach for you :-)

For the front I taped off around the emblem as well as the recessed space inside the nissan burger itself. I made sure, though, that the part where the chrome burger attaches to the grille was not taped of so I could use an x-acto knife to cut the plastidip there (mostly as a precaution since I didn't think the plastidip would break itself there).
