Hey G37 drivers,,,,,,

Been looking at getting one of these. I test drove an Altima 3.5 SE which after owning an HHR blew my socks off. However the car had a flawed Carfax. IN fact an accisidnt and a mileage roll back and this was at a NISSAN dealership!!!

OF course they had no idea....LOL Anyway they did have an 08 G37 which I test rode and fell in lust. But not with their asking price of $36998 for a Journey with Nav at 12k miles...I was quoted 37.8K for a NEW 09 at a real INfinity Dealership.

So IF I cannot get at least a 7K discount for the used one, I may have tp reconsider the new one. I have seen a few ;ow mile 08's loaded up for $30K asking. IN anycase I am looking at the Accord Coupe and the Lexus IS 350 as well...................

If you decide on a G37 with auto, get the '09 if possible. It has the new 7-speed AT (vice 5-speed on the '08) which gives you better mileage.

Hey Kingfrog(cool name BTW).

You can get a new one for that much money. I would just run far from that dealership.

Check this one out. That should give you an idea what people pay.

Oh and welcome to Nico.

Seriously??!?!??! Take a pic! They'll probably get in trouble for that silly y. I was talking with an Infiniti rep recently and told me a story of a new dealer that inside had a big sign with a 'y' in the infiniti and they got in trouble....anywayI dont see how any 08 G would be priced over 30k. They should all be in the mid to high 20's. Unless it is fully loaded, with less than 10k on it, the price shouldn't be in the 30's.

Infiniti and Camaro must be the two most misspelled words in automotive history.

I can't tell you how many times I have seen Camaro spelled Camero. Eew....even in car ads in the newspaper.

I don't know why its so hard to spell a word thats written out right in front of you constantly and repeatedly. I can understand if you try to write out Koenigsegg or Lamborghini.

I guess the saying should go "If you can't spell it, you can't afford it".

Actually I have been using the word "infinity" most of my life......Infiniti for about two weeks....... I realize now it's a grand insult to those who actually own an Infiniti to see the word "Infinity" when describing their cars.....

This particular "brand" of "auto snobbishness" is what I really don't care for and why I have stayed away from "monikers" After all, it's only a car and we are blessed not to be suffering like many who cannot make payments on a five year old used Chevy.....I guess the bottom line for me is I like the car but not the "exclusivity" factor. Although the Infiniti is not on the level in that regard to most everyday people as a Mercedes, BMW which have no peers in their respective manufacturing groups. The Infinity G37 looks so much like a Altima in many ways, as the Lexus ES looks like the Camary in the Toyota line,

Anyway I went to the Nissan dealership that had the 37K 09 with the price of a new 09 and he would not budge. He printed out the Mannheim auction prices for the past week on 08s and they averaged $30K in above avg condition and he showed me his paperwprk where he has $32K in the car so I can see he cannot sell the car to me for a price I feel comfortable with.

One thing about paying cash for a car.It really makes you think twice about the amount of money being put on the table verses dealing with "payment schedules" I would have bought his 09 G37 tonight for $30K if he would have been willing but even having a check on the table the GSM passed. So I guess he really did pay too much for it.

Avg auction price for an above avg 08 G37 with 12k miles is $30,400 as of last week,

I wasn't being snobby or taking a shot at you frog, I was kinda serious... but now that you mention it, you had a 66.6666666666666% success rate on your last post with the correct spelling you pointed out. Anyway, regardless of pricing, a car is only worth what you're willing to pay for it. If you look around, you'll find a good deal somewhere.

KingFrog, Welcome, FYI, thereare some mature members herewho can stay on topic and off whatever drugs some of these guys frequent. LOL

Anyway, You also might want to consider the currenttax credit before you buy. If you buy new you willcan get a low interest rate if you qualify, and eitherway, until the end of the year you will basically geta federal tax credit on state sales tax, registrationand any local taxes depending on your incomeand the car price....just some food for thought.Good luck

Yeah that is a thought. I did get a quote on a Journey at around $37K. Being a cash buyer I am having issue with putting $38,000 on the table for a car. Thats why I always saved first and bought second, Always gave me pause But I always settled for less as well.............

The Infiniti dealer bing over an hour away factors in as well. I don;t know. The more I think about it the more I think the Altima Coupe 3.5 will fill the bill and I will save $10K as well...........The dealer is 3 miles away LOL. But they don;t carry couples in stock and I don;t want to wait 90 days for my configuration nor will I settle for any less if Im paying for a new car. The 08 is IM looking at is exactly the configuration I wanted in the Altima but the dealer won't budge off the $34K price......(yeah I got him down $3k after showing him the new quotes I received and the one on CarsDirect.com for $37,663 target price...He was asking more than that for an 08 with 12K!!!

If he calls me with a price of $31 or less Im there with check in hand........

I thank you all for your responses and promise not to spell Infiniti wrong whether or not I decide to buy one.

Hey King... no one here is in any way snobby or think of themselves on a pedestal because we drive G.

It's kinda like calling a BMW a BMR.. it's just not correct that's all.

You may want to revisit this dealer again but at the end of the month when he needs to make final sales.

Good luck

Keep going back and don't give up. I've always had good luck buying new in December after starting my search in September or October.

Arriving a half hour before closing time sometimes works if you are ready to buy

Yeah I think that's good advice. I saw the auction report and the similar above avg condition G37 dropped $1200 at auction just last week to $30,400. I suppose thats because the 10's are just around the corner, The same dealer just put a couple G35s on the lot but I am all about the white G37. They have it advertised as a "Sport" but its clearly a Journey with Premium and Nav....Maybe thats why they have the pricing that high,,LOL

http://grandstrandnissan.vinma...89927

I'll let them sit on it awhile. My HHR is depreciating less than that guy...LOL

Thank you all. I did not take offense at the "snobbery" I understand one's enthusiasm for a car. I never bought one I was "enthusiastic" about. Always the good buy or "practical"........I am in no hurry...I will lurk these forums and see if I can find enough complaints to to turn me off the car LOL.....

Thanks Guys...
