New to forum, starting to look through the posts about the G35. Very Nice car! Shopping around for a good deal, feel free to drop a note about anything I should look for or stay away from.So far I got passenger window motor issues, oil consumption issues on some models (MT) and break dust issues on older models. A friend said he runs through tires easily, may be isolated, LOL. The search continues in the Greensboro, NC area...

Welcome. They sent an email around about a girl at work selling hers:

2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe, 2 doorPremium Package 54,000 miles$18,900

Seemed a little high, but probably can talk them down. I can get you in touch if interested.

I've seen the car in the parking deck before, very good shape. Its Diamond Graphite in color (same as mine). Not sure if its MT or AT though.

Also I picked mine up in May from Modern Inifiniti in Greensboro, good people. Keep an eye on their inventory (Greensboro and Winston).http://moderninfiniti.com

The sedans are lighter and a tick faster plus you have easy access to the backseat

These cars are built very well, you can drive them at 99% everyday and not have any broken parts. I would want to see proof of 4-6 oil changes each year and if its an automatic proof that the fluid had been changed every 30k.

...but the older sedans don't look as nice as the older coupes

Plus, your sedan is an 07...they have the VQ35HR which does have more HP than the previous VQ.

To the original poster, welcome to NICO!!

I'd look for the newest G you can afford. 03-04's have issues with the head deck and brake dust...plus older styling. The 05-06 (07 coupes) 6MTs have oil consumption issues...but it's not as widespread as people think.

The newer G37s don't have any issues that I've seen, and have fixed some lingering problems like the excessive tire wear issue.

I like the looks of the 06 sedan almost as much as I like the 07. If you get an 06 sedan with a mt you have 298 hp which should feel a lot like 306 hp which feels better then 328 hp if its a 7sp

Forwarded the email, but the contact I had is out until Monday, so should maybe hear from them then.

Good luck.

Believe there is a Z/G meet this Sunday in Greensboro I believe if you want to network to see what is around.

The early 6MT G's also had some of the shortest stopping distances of any car in their class.

Brake dust is an issue for old people and women (and Canadians). Real drivers don't care about brake dust.

The head unit in my G crapped out, was replaced out-of-warranty as a good faith move by Infiniti.

Not a single other issue with mine, and mine is a VERY early-production '03.

Thanks for the info, suggestions are helpful. I know I am going to get a great car in the G35, so I am not too worried. Will post pics of the winning car at a later date.
