Hi all. New member here. Just picked up a 97 J30 for 3700 to get me around town. Look forward to being a part of the forum. I came from maxima.org. Used to own a slightly modded 02 6speed max which I completely dogged for 3 years. Had to sell it and cut my losses. Needed something a little more laid back to keep me out of trouble/speeding tickets and to save me money.

thanks. Actually i dont think the previous owner really drove it much. Elderly lady from england, she has been going back and forth from the uk to houston and so it sorta mostly sat in her driveway. Now she recently broke her hip and cant climb into a car that low anymore so i offered to buy it. The car actually still has a faint new car smell in it.. weird. It's a silver one. Perfect condition inside and out and the odometer only reads 65k original miles. only thing it needs is centercaps, she claims they disappeared one day at the kroger parking lot . they are bbs wheels. also the stock radio wont turn on anymore and the remote fob doesnt operate. besides that the car is flawless. i suppose i can post a couple photos when i get a chance.

thanks! will do. I'm actually the not so proud owner of an extremely cheap 8mp vivitar digicam. blah. but im in the market for a really nice camera, possibly buying one tomorrow or wednesday. i'll take some shots then.

As far as the burnt out keyless entry and factory headunit goes, with the money i saved buying this car ( my budget was $6k and I almost bought an 02 Saab 9-5 Aero Manual but the dealer was acting fishy as hell so i had to walk away) i was able to buy a http://www.viper.com/Images/Items/Fullsize/4102V.jpg Keyless entry system with remote start and a Pioneer MVH-P8200 headunit. http://www.productwiki.com/upload/image ... 8200bt.jpg. They're gonna be installed tomorrow morning.

Saab's are sweet! There are a number of Nissan/Infiniti owners on this board, who also own a Saab.

I own an '05 9-5 Aero sportwagon. It has the same accleration as a Porsche 911 from that era. It's my daily driver. Absolutly incredible to drive in deep snow. The only thing with Saab's are that you have to buy one that has its full service history, especially oil changes. Infrequent and/or oil changes with the wrong type and weight of oil led to an engine sludging problem.

You'll like the J, its RWD and handles much better when pushed then a FWD Saab. The Saab is infinitly better than the J in snow and ice though.

haha nice. yea i know all about the sludging issues, i have two friends with saab's one has an 05 aero manual with nav and the other has an 01 9-3 viggen also with the b235 motor. the 02+ manual model aeros also got 20 second overboost from 3rd gear up. awesome cars, the 9-3 viggen gave him hella problems though with some electrical issues, cant really remember what.

Many years ago I had the opportunity to buy a Saab 900 SE Talladega (the pre-cursor to the Viggen) but got cold feet. I'm still kicking myself.

Those aftermarket tuning kits from Nordic Performance and BSR make a huge power and fuel economy difference in Saabs. My 9-5 wagon is the ultimate sleeper.

Unfortunatly for the J, bolt on performance mods are few and far between.

Nice! I really wish i could've gotten the saab but i ran out of time in buying a car. And i simply couldnt refuse this deal on the J. So we'll see what happens. I have every ability to sell this car for more than what i bought it for . But idk.. the last few days its been kinda growin on me. This car has a bit of a personality.. but i cant quite put my finger on it.

oK. Was finally able to take some pics. Havent bought a camera yet But I managed to borrow my sister's cheap kodak easyshare camera. And it got dark so i had to go the parking garage near where I live to take the snapshots. As you can see though, this J is mostly untouched and has only 65k miles. Sat in a garage most of its 14 years of life.

Someone I know is selling these HP design wheels with tires. He had them on his Acura CL. Not too shabby, except i think these staggered wheels would be much more at home on a proper RWD car.

idk, what do you guys think? Should I make him an offer?

Those of you who have messed with these cars extensively, would the J take to this size?

Size
19x8.5 front 19x9.5 back, 38 offset all the way

i'd say the j30 can take a much lower offset, look at driftday's thread
