Just wanted to introduce myself to the NICOclub J30 community, which I know is pretty small compared to just about everyone else due to the fact that: 1) many (clearly insane) people think our cars are fugly, and 2) because J30s are so freekin' hard to modify.

I was hoping to post a few pics of my still cherry dark green '93 J30t shod with 5 spoke '18 Rays wheels snatched from a friend's 350z but I can't seem to figure out how to do so at this second. Obviously, I should have done some more reading before trying to post :(

Anyway, I'm reasonably well versed in the very large amount of discussion regarding the various ways to lower these cars (seems a S14 5 lug w/ABS and S14 balljoint front and s13 coilover rear is the premium way to go) but I had a specific question regarding the use of stock Z31 springs in front as a means of lowering the front about '1.5. I know people have used aftermarket Z31 lowering springs on their Js to get a drastic 3' or more drop (too drastic for me), but has anyone here actually tried out a stock Z31 spring setup in front?

Thanks

Disable your HICAS for those 18 inch rims, anything above 16 inchs causes damage. HICAS is freakin expensive to fix. You can get a HICAS delete kits off Infinitipartsusa. Installation is self explanatory.

That's most depressing to hear about the HICAS because it really does seem to keep the car flat around corners. Back when I owned an NA Z32 a lot of the TT owners who autocrossed were either disabing theirs or at least thinking about doing so.

Here's a question for you: will using the HICAS delete kit sold by InfinitiParts save me an appreciable amount of weight, because this car serioulsy needs to lose some?

Somebody in another thread said 40 Lbs tops.
Like the weight of a small Child. :)

I saw that thread but wasn't sure if the delete kit just disabled the system or permitted it to be removed entirely. BTW, because I'm a moron, I wasn't able to locate an "HICAS delete" kit on InfinitipartsUSA's site. I'm sure it's there someplace, but it's not where I would expct it to be (in "4 wheel steering").

Anyway, 40 pounds is not inignificant, partiularly since I did myself no favors in the power-to-weight war by bolting the 18s on the car in the first place. Had to do it though; they just looked so nice, plus my teenage son and his buds gave me tiny nods of aproval.

Found it at Z1 Mororsports' site. They have both "disable" ($160) and "elimination" kits ($600+).
