Good morning, gentlemen (and ladies). This might get lengthy, but mostly I'm just introducing myself. So.........just over a year ago, I purchased an n/a 1990 z32 that had been converted to tt with a 1991 jdm engine and 5 speed. At the time, I knew NOTHING about these cars beyond the fact that they are the sexiest vehicles ever made. Bought it off a guy on Craigslist on the day I discovered my home had been broken into for the second time in two years. I'd already made the commitment to meet him, so we met for a test drive. It ran fantastic, the little we drove it. Then I asked him how much boost she was making (since there's no boost gauge in it). "Oh I don't boost it, it makes plenty of power for me without boost". Should have walked away right then, but geez she was sexy. So we did the deal, and I took it straight across the street and parked her in my storage building.

The next day (after going home and dealing with the invasion mess), I went back to the storage and took her on a little drive to really check her out. Again, ran great, but no boost. Took it back to storage to park her and give her a good "look-see" under the hood. Two hours later, there was a huge puddle of oil/coolant just in front of, and inside of, the front drivers side tire. My guess is bad turbo seals, hence the "oh I don't boost it" jazz.

Anyhow, I moved and she's been sitting in storage for a bit over a year now. In the past year, I've read every word printed about z32's. You guys have been a HUGE resource, and I really appreciate the time and effort that you all put into this site.

I'd decided (as a lot of z32 noobs do) to ls swap it. Even went out and bought a fantastic m6 firebird for the doner. The problem: it's TOO nice, so I don't want to ruin it. And......I love that z that I haven't seen in a year, and I've become "nostalgic" about her and I'd love to keep it all Nissan.

The list of mods that are claimed to have been done are as follows:
New engine and trans harnesses.
60k service (belts seals plugs injectors)
Wolfe pop charger
Labree 3" to 2.5" exhaust
Wolfe ecu
Profec B spec2 boost controller
Greddy turbo timer
Z1 smic's
Mishimoto radiator
Upgraded (don't know what kind) oil cooler
Z1 tt street clutch
Z1 lightened flywheel
Z1 1-piece platinum driveshaft
Z1 short throw shifter.

Now........the only things on that list that I have confirmed are the boost controller, the radiator, and the short throw shifter. It does, however, have some brand of chrome boost pipes. Whether or not everything else is true, remains to be seen.

The car is in Joplin Missouri, and I understand that Zhookup is right up the road in Springfield Missouri. My plan (so far) is to drop it off at Zhookup and have them give it a SOLID going over (these guys are supposed to specialize in z32's), then get a "bill of health". If the drivetrain is worth it, I'll bring it home (to southern Indiana) and get a list going of what all she needs and get started on it.

I don't have any photobucket type accounts, or I'd post pics of her in hopes that maybe someone here knows any history on the car. Or maybe I could email them to someone who has a hosting account and they could post them here for me?

Anyhow, thank you for taking the time to make this site a massive resource of information.

Welcome to NICO! Sounds like you have a solid plan of action thus far. You'll have to keep us posted on what the shop says. It might also be a good idea to start a build thread. It's nice to be able to look back at things and see what you did a couple years ago. As for hosting, there are other companies other than photobucket. If you google free image hosting site, quite a few will pop up. I'm looking forward to following how your Z progresses!

Thanks for the welcome, ca18det. You're right, in that I need a build thread. I'm no stranger to cars, but the z32 is an entirely different ballgame from my norm. Other than connecting a single vacuum line on it, ive never touched one. But I welcome the learning curve. Mostly, I just want the shop up in Springfield to tell me whether or not it's worth the effort and budget to bother with. If so, I'll take her home, tear it down to the long block, inventory what I have and need and get going. I plan to keep it a powerful DRIVER/weekend toy. Emphasis on "driver". Wolfe bb 530's and supporting equipment (injectors, exhaust and such), dual pop, maybe cams, a solid clean-up of everything, nothing outlandish. Just a good hard driver.

Makes total sense, but if you're already considering tearing it down to the block...why not just save the $$$ and take it home. You definitely have a plan, so let's skip the middle man and get to crackin'. The shop should tell you where the car is at mechanically, but they can't tell you if the juice is worth the squeeze. Only you can answer that one amigo. From how you described your thoughts/feelings on the Z when you first set eyes on it, I think that you've already made that decision.
