So I've been trying to figure out what car to buy for almost a year now...yea it's pretty sad...here is my story..read if you want :D

I currently drive an old a** ford (shoot me plz) and well I've been trying to buy a new car for a long time now. It first started out when I saw a chevy cobalt with a wide body kit..I just fell in love with it, but after a while I got tired of looking at it. Granted those cars get some pretty good mileage (unless you're talking about the ss supercharged which are a bit less).

After that I wanted to get a Honda (either a civic or an accord). The accord is a bit too high on my list price wise and they kinda look a bit funky while looking good..I don't know how to explain it. I really liked the civic (besides its front which to me looks like the front of a mini van) and if I were to get a civic it would be SI and I don't really like driving stick so I steered away from that decision. Also everyone and their grandma's owns a civic these days.

After that I saw the beautiful Camaro came out...my god that thing is sexy! Those bastards at chevy wouldn't give me any financing options though and they were selling at ridiculous prices (like some were $3000 above MSRP and people were still buying them!). Also there was a 5 month waiting period I guess due to allocation problems.

So my search continued...I just couldn't figure out what car I wanted and this is the biggest investment I'm making so I don't want to buy something and end up hating it later so I'm taking my time.

A few weeks ago I was at my friends place and while going home I was talking in the parking lot and I saw a white altima coupe 2.5s from behind and I was like 'wow what in the world is that'. The back side was so intriguing I don't think I've ever seen that before (there aren't many altima coupes here in tally). It also had that spoiler that is pretty common on AC's. Just looking at that car I felt like I wanted it. I went home and did some research on the car and I was like ya....I want it. I did some searches in my town and called up some dealers, but none had what I wanted.

In all of the south east region there was no 3.5 SE AC's with premium package in super black. Dealer said that there was a 2.5s so I was on the fence as to whether or not I should go with that...then boom 2 days later Nissan reveals the 2010 AC....so yea that's why I'm here :D

So far I see the reaction is a bit more negative than positive about the 2010, which honestly makes me sort of sad because I was pretty excited in wanting to buy this car. I see that most people are upset because they can't get projector lights (I honestly don't even know what these are :S ) for their older car because the new model has them shaped differently or something...the new hood I see is a bit more different. I'm not sure yet as to whether or not I like it more or less than the old one as I haven't really looked at the old one under a microscope.

The 2009 will probably drop in prices as well so if I decide I like the 09 better I may go with that and save some dollars to invest in some other things for the car.

stopped reading there

lol

no seriously just check ebay for a coupe. there is literally tons of 08 3.5SE altima coupes full equip at ridiculously low prices. they are still under warranty for at least two years. buy it, drive it like you stole it everyday, and thank me later.

Actually I did look a lot at ebay and other autotrader websites before considering going for a new car instead. I guess I can browse a bit more in case something nice pops up.

and lol...driving stick is nice...makes you feel as if you are in control (which you are)..etc, but I just don't know...last time I drove my friends wrx I stalled like 40 times lol.

dude, I can understand people that are living in hell traffic and need the cvt for the daily commute , but not taking manual because you don't know how to do it properly yet? Come on!

after one day you'll have mastered it and you'll thank yourself forever lol

Yo, another one from Tally... if you are even slightly thinking about getting the manual get it

This was my first car with a manual I had it down pat in no time...

EDIT: also if you are trying to do business with Kraft, don't do it, they are terrible, If I could do it again I would go to Thomasville..

Really? I've been in touch with someone from Kraft and they have been super good to me so far (obviously because they want my business) but he answered all my questions promptly via email each time as that is how I wanted it and he's been pretty helpful. As of right now I'm waiting to see what they got going for the 2010's, hopefully by Monday their main site will be updated. (by main I mean nissanusa.com)

As for the manual situation....I don't think it's wise to learn how to drive a stick on a brand new car..what do you guys think? Wouldn't I ruin the clutch or something if I'm horrible at it? That's what someone mentioned to me just today actually. How do you drive with all these hills man? I'm afraid one day I'll be going up on stadium towards tennessee and I'll be at the light and I'll either stall or have a horrible roll back and hit the guy behind me :|

Everyone thinks this way when they are beginners......

Good example:

My Coupe is the first car I have ever driven with a manual transmission, I learned on it... I had the same feelings as you do about the subject, yes you will stall out some or alot in the first weeks or so.. but by the time a month or so has passed you will be wondering why you were freaking out...

hmmm...I will highly consider this now. Not because of the past few posts but I have been thoroughly contemplating on getting a manual...just wasn't sure yet. I can also practice on my roommates in the time being.

On a side note, were you ever parked at abc liquors on tennessee like 3 weeks ago? lol I saw a black altima coupe parked there and I was like damn that thing is sexy. It looked stock though so maybe not.

Tennessee street, not a chance, I avoid it like the plague....

Mine looks stock from the outside... but as far as I know I have the only Black 09... and one of the very few V6's..

It seems the v6's are a hard find. Every dealer I talked to only has the 2.5s....I'm literally just waiting for the next 36 hours to pass asap so I can have a peek at the 2010s ...I wonder if kraft will have any at their shop.

Raz,1st , whatever you do (2009 or 2010) GET A 3.5 SE(09) or SR(10)... ... the whole thing about stick vs manual is pointless to me... manual mode in the CVT (while not a replica of driving a manual) gives you plenty of control over the car...

regarding us and our opinions on the 2010... DO NOT PAY THAT ANY ATTENTION!!! Most of us REALLY wanted Nissan to come out with something sexy.... and we wanted projectors...

well the first wish is a matter of opinion, but suffice to say some of us were disappointed in the looks (I've seen the same sentiment on other Nissan forums as well)... but if you like the way the 2010 looks, who cares what us old fogeys say.. get it...

the second wish just pissed us off, its like Nissan read our boards, realized how much we wanted projectors, and then just spit in our faces by not allowing a clean swap between 08,09 and 2010 headlights... that really pissed some of us off.. we've been waiting for quality projectors for two years now, so this was a slap in the face...

honestly, if you're looking for a great deal, get an 09 once the 2010's come out... but if you like the new features of the 2010, just get that, and shine your projectors in our faces ... but whatever you do, please get a 3.5 ... you will kick youself in the pants if you don't

hehe that's good to know. I completely forgot that the auto is cvt's and is sort of like a manual when you want it to be. I did contemplate the 2.5s only when the dealer told me there were no 3.5's in the southeast region; however, just a week later nissan released the info on the 2010's so that was a big plus for me.

I'll see how much the price of the new 09 will fall to and whether or not the difference is worth the additions of the 2010.

btw has anyone seen the 2010's yet at any dealers? They should be coming in by the weekend I would assume...

I'm sure Mehdi would go with MT.

I'm with doc on this, get a 3.5 The 2.5 is nice but 3.5 is nicer, plus we get about the same gas mileage and a lot of the 3.5's paid about the same for us with the 2.5

And if you're considering manual, get it. The CVT is nice but if you have a itch for the clutch and actual shifting then the CVT won't cut it for you. (IMO of course)

MANUAL

if there wasn't a manual offered for the 3.5SE I would have taken another car. thats how important having a manual is to me lol
