Hey all, name's Cullen, I live in Seacoast NH. Currently driving a POS Volvo 240.

Now, don't get me wrong, I like, no, love Volvos. This is my 4th, after a 760T, 740T and 940T. This one, however, has been nothing but trouble since the day I got it in May, and it is currently not on the road. I won't be getting rid of it, as when it does run, I like it - and you can't bark at 27mpg mixed.

I also happen to like NIssan Xterras. I drove one for a few months when one of my cars was on the fritz, and liked it a lot. '01 SE 4x4, 5speed, Alpine Green. That's where the username comes from. That, and my birth year is '85.

I gotta say, though, I've always had a thing for the 1st gen Qs. I just liked the styling. I didn't know until recently, though, that they had such an amazing powerplant. Now, I gotta have one.

So, that's the background. While I like 'em all from 90-96 style-wise, I really want a 94 or 95. I've heard about the nasty timing chain guides that plague the 90-93 models, as well as the detuned engine in the 96 model.

I have pics of my cars at http://www.pbase.com/mr740ti/volvo/thecars/ and of the X at http://www.pbase.com/mr740ti/the_x/

94-95 is the way to go. And yes the timing chain guides in the 90-93 models are not the only issue anyhow (although once fixed to metal guides are not a problem). Also think about the styling cues of the 94-96, which in my opinion are way nicer as far as luxury is concerned (such as grill and interior for example). Being a few years newer always helps too in wear and tear overall and for upkeep to be done when you purchase it.

Wow, that was quick.

That Q45.org is really a gem. I've been going over it the last couple days and all I have to say to anyone who's never seen it - GO THERE AND READ IT!
