hey guys hows it goin. been browsing the site for a while now and i've been debating on a new project car to get. i've got a 2002 celica right now and wanted to turbo it. then decided i should just get a civic hatch or a nissan 240. well. i love drifting (not in my car) and i love speed. i want a turbo'd car coz nitrous isn't doing it for me anymore. so i figure a 240 with a sr20 would be the most cost efficient and i'd be killing a few birds with one stone.

so anyways i've pretty much got the money for a motorset and will need to find a shell pretty soon. i plan to do the swap myself because im definately a DIYer coz thats the only way i learn.

here are some pics of my carhttp://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/670755excuse all the stickers this was right after nisei car show.

enjoy

Nice celica, my friend has the 2000, and it's pretty fun to drive. Good luck finding a 240 though, it keeps getting harder and harder to find. If you want a turbo, I'd opt for the 240 over the civic because it's easier to with the overbuilt engines that love boost. It's not my place to tell you, but think about what you want the car for then decide on a motor, don't just get a SR because you think it's cool. If you want a daily driver that can haul a$$, track/autocross car or for street and strip. The S chassis can fit the SR, turbo KA and the RB. There are many choices, make the one right for you. And welcome to NICO!

Welcome. Keep checking the classifieds and local paper. There are also other options than the SR for motor options. Stock motor turboed is pretty good too, if you are on a budget. There is alot more than a few grand into aswaped drift car. Decent suspension is pretty expensive. Good Luck.

thanks for all the replies. yah.. i think i've made up my mind and am gonna do the SR although the rest of my teammates want me to go the honda route seeing as to they all have swapped or turbo'd honda's. but we have another swapped celica and a z32 who is about to drop the twin turbo motor into his car. i love 240's and thought about putting a turbo on the KA but if im gonna do that i'd rather swap in an SR coz this IS going to be a project car and a swap is something i'd like to do. oh and the RB seems complicated and out of my budget. haha

what do you guys think of a 89 shell with minor front fender damage and rear fender damage on one side w/smashed taillight its a bit lil crumpled. > 600

anyways.. thanks for all the input guys!

and yah a S15 for 6000? i'd buy one with a salvaged title as well! where in CA is he located?

Welcome to nico and you have a very clean celica! Id say go w/ an s13 style body but its up to you. Is the 89 a coupe or fastback? What kind of engine did your friend swap into his celica?
