Hey people!
New member here! Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I'm a proud owner of a 2008 3.5SE Coupe CVT and loving every moment. Hopefully I can gain a lot of knowledge and contribute as much!
So to start off, I have a neat trick for CVT owners. Don't know if this has been discussed before, but since us CVT owners don't have a clutch, its kinda hard to launch! Anyway, I was playing around with my car, which is bone stock for a 3.5SE, and found an awesome way of launching.
Firstly, come to a complete stop (if you're stop light racing, already accomplished!) then look to the left of your steering wheel and there should be a TCS button off to the side. Put the car into manual mode and press the TCS button. When you depress it, on the dash it should indicate TCS OFF (Traction Control System OFF). Now, hold the brake (hard) with your left foot and cover the gas with your right. When pushing the brake pedal in try to remember how far the "throw" is (how far you are pushing it in). Rev to ~2500RPM - 3000RPM and release the brake halfway of the previous mentioned "throw" while keeping your gas foot still.
You should now be experiencing a nice amount of tire squeal and spin, but keep your gas foot planted. Now release the rest of the brake pedal moderately, still keeping your gas foot still. Once you start to feel your tires hook up, then pedal to the floor.
Start to finish, although there are a lot of step, should only take ~3 seconds. Hopefully this will help some of you CVT owners out there!
Sorry if I sound like a professional or something. I've tried numerous ways, but this is the best way.
