Ok... as you may have noticed I am new to this board. However, I am not new to RB's in the 240sx. I currently have a 89 240 with a RB20DET bolted and running well (now... first transmission that came with clip was bad).

It was great... fired up on the first try! The only problem I am having now is getting the lights to work. I used all of the skyline harness including the interior harness (since it has pedal switches and what not that are different). I have heard that you can just hook up the interior harness to the factory 240 ****pit harness... but it didn't look like that would work to me... so I did this. The swap was really straight forward until now. I think i'm going to trace the pins back to the harness.... and move them into the 240's switches. If there is an easier/better way please let me know!

By the way... if anyone needs help with info on RB20DET swaps.... let me know. http://www.venus-auto.com was awesome to deal with in getting my clip. Ask for Kong and tell him Sig from NC with the RB20DET in his 240 sent you.

RegardsSig

I don't have anywhere to host it all... but I have videos and pictures. If anyone knows where I can host them (for free pref.)... I'll post them asap.

Congrats on the swap. How long have you had that thing running? Wiring sounds kinda funny. RB20DET swaps are pretty easy, and most people have the info to do them already from numerous other posts on this site and 240SXforums.com or my website: http://240Skyline.nissanpower.com I don't know if I'd go wasting money on a A31 X-member either. Just buy a new intake manifold or cut your hood skeleton.

Night

The thing with the x-member is that it's hitting on the cam cover... not the plenum. It's been running for about 3 months now. What do you mean the wiring sounds kinda funny?

PS... RB20/25 motors have T-3 style turbos (they are slightly different than a normal T-3, and can be found with a search if you want to check me)... your site says yours has a T-25.

Great swap iam thinking about RB20 or SR on my S13. but unfortuantley time is on my side seeing as how iam gonna get fiancial aid to pay for everything.. just brushing up on what goes into doing the RB so you will probably see me allot more and there will be questions. just hope RB20 guy's dont get all fustrated with me. also i really dont trust your website, price might seem right but what is a Skyling?? rather go with someone who i could raise hell if there is anything wrong with it... and dont have inferior transmissinos upon delivery-edgar

It's not my company. I just bought the clip from them. They are all asian guys there and kong was the only one who was speaking english clearly (skyling probably came from a poor translator for skyline... which is what they use). They sent me a free trans since the first one was bad. I'd say that is pretty good business. Now I have 2 transmissions... I can build one while the other one is running in the car (factory trans for the RB20 only hold up to around 400-450 reliably). I didn't say you had to go with this company... I just had a good experience with them. If they had sent me a bum trans and not replaced it I would never have recommended them.

Good luck with your swap... let me know if i can help.

My 240 did not have a WOT button on the gas pedal and the skyline did. Maybe that is a difference between the KA24E vs DE. As far as the crossmember... the cam cover is hitting the hood because the crossmember mounts the engine too high (sorry if that was not clear). As far as the hybrid turbo... I've never heard of that, but I'm sure you're probably right.

Yeah, I thought it was a good business move. The other trans was really bad... metal shavings and pieces came out when I drained the old fluid. Everything else was fine... so it's all good. I guess this kind of thing happens from time to time when you are dealing with high performance used engines, and at least they took care of it.

It would have been easier to add in the necessary swt and leave the 240 dash wiring as is. 2 wires versis 100 or so. The FSM does not say what the swt controls(still looking)

Yeah, you are probably right... next time that is probably what I will do. This is not the only one I plan on doing so there is time to grow. I will check the pin out sheet at http://www.rb20det.com to see if it is on there... I'm not sure where it ties in either.

Yes I did... browsing through the posts you can find a lot of good sources for these motors.

Hey... does anyone know if Bosch makes replacement timing belts for the RB's... I don't think they do (couldn't find it) but was wondering if anyone knew?

i'm sure you could get the dimensions of the timing belt(teeth, width length) and ask whichever company that makes them if they have replacements. i know that if you make a hybrid mazda FE engine you use a supra belt.
