Post

Hello all, This is my inaugral post on the forum. I ordered my 2008 Nissan Versa SL (6-Speed) last Thursday and immediatly began searching for ways to make this car my own. The color I chose was Magnetic Gray, from searching the previous posts on the forum I have seen the various mods and upgrades that people have done. Therefore it seems to me there are certain cosmetic and performance upgrades I have my eyes on.

Cosmetic:- OEM Door Visors- Rear Roof Spoiler- Kick Plates

Performance:- K&N AIr Filter- Lowering Springs

If there are any other 'beginning' upgrades I can make, at your suggestions, please let me know. I am very open to ideas, and as many others I am on a budget. Thanks for any and all suggestions and I will post pics asap. (My car is on a truck somewhere between Virginia and NY).

Welcome. Continue searching, there are plenty of other mods that can be done, though most others do get a little higher price tag (cai, wheels, tint, etc).

You may want to add the rear bumper protector. Adds the black to the top of the rear bumper and is worth the price (<$30) to protect the top of that bumper from scratches and dings.

I heard that the oiled air filters can ruin your MAF sensors if you don't oil/clean them properly. Anyone know if this is true or not?

personal opinion is that the oiled K and N air filters are not worth the trouble for the minimal and likely unnoticeable impact. I got rid of mine in another car and went back to paper filters.

I'll second this. I get things in/out of the trunk all day long, and I know for a fact the top of my bumper would look completely trashed right now if it weren't for the bumper protector.

Yeah EV is right about the bumper protector, it would be the best first item since this is a new car the other stuff should come later. First protect your investment then upgrade it with other stuff, since you seem to have an idea of what's available make sure you bookmark the links to where the parts are then save to make the purchases later..

Enjoy your ride the way it is then take your time tuning it you will enjoy it better in the long run.

And welcome to NICO Woody64

Any suggestions on what site to by the Bumper Protector? I don't believe I saw it on the Versaspeed site.

Thanks for all the great input.

As far as the K&N Filter goes, I mentioned it to my brother the mechanic last night, and he had a similiar reaction, so I guess that clears $50 on my budget....hello bumper protectors.

It's a Nissan Factory part (of course, there may be others, too). You can order it from your dealer (and probably even have them install it) or the Nissan website:http://www.nissanusa.com/versa/accessories.html

West Covina Nissan sold and installed my rear one for under $30. It has an adhesive backing and is not a bolt-on part so it would be very easy for you to put it on yourself. If your local dealer doesn't have it, they should be able to get it from another dealer if need be. Or, West Covina can send it if you order through http://thenismoshop.com/
