Here's back-ground and some questions:

I've been a Datsun-Infiniti fan for a long time and a NICO reader for years. I own a '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L (200k miles) and '99 BMW 528i (82k), but I'm a Nissan/Infiniti fanatic, having 'talked' everyone else in my family into one: '96 I30, '98/99 Q45, '99 Maxima, '07 Altima 3.5, and currently my father has an '04 G35 Coupe 6mt (w/ the Brembo's) and 100k miles...my favorite for obvious reasons. He's only done minor-to-basic maintenance (ie- oil changes, tires, alignment, brakes). Never a tune-up, any repairs, major diagnostic tests, or any additive ever used and no upgrades (sigh). But, it still runs like the brute it did 5 years ago...

Personally, on my vehicles, I've always used a K&N air filter, regular oil changes with Lucas oil treatment btwn, above 89 octane gas topped off with Lucas and/or Sea Foam additives in btwn particular scheduled intervals. Rarely any problems, even with the Jeep I-6 at 200+k miles. It still hauls a** and the Bimmer runs like it should always run...

Recently I used: Seafoam in the oil tank 100 miles before a change, Lucas gas additive (huge mix, like 100 worth), and a radiator flush in a '95 Chevy Suburban all within 2 weeks...it made major differences!

Sooo finally to the questions....

1) Should we put any additives to the oil, gas tank, transmission, radiator, etc for preventative/performance related reasons into the G? (if so, what?) 2) If nothings wrong with performance, related to the original, should we do anything at all? Belt, hoses, clutch, brakes, tune-ups, etc... (he won't be interested in cold-air intakes, suspension mods, turbos, aftermarket wheels) 3) What brands, assuming I'm gonna do something soon anyway, should I use or avoid with the '04 G35?

I'm glad I finally joined NICO happy to be here...I hope to soon own a G37 and maybe one day a GT-R... Recently, pops decided to keep his G instead of trading it in. If assured him, with proper care, it'll last him years and soon looked at as a 'classic.' Sorry for the long post...I wanted to have a good 1st post. Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance....

A fellow Columbia NICO member - welcome!

For your dad's G, I would recommend flushing and replacing all of the fluids. I was amazed how many metal shavings I got out of our G's differential at 20 or 30K on the odometer. I have heard of members on another G forum draining their factory fill with 5K and having visible flakes in there - so it's something about Nissan's differential design and break-in. I have been changing the gear oil in it every oil change or two and finally got it looking pretty good last time - so I'm going to switch to a full synthetic the next time I change it.

If it has the original belts, I'm sure they're due. I order all of my parts from http://www.everythinginfiniti.com

As for the other stuff... just change it with the best specified fluids you can find/afford and call it good. Of course, yearly (or 12K) changes on the engine and cabin air filters.

Not sure what you're looking for? Honestly, our G35 forum will probably give you more input - although you take most of their fun out of it excluding mods.

I would suggest a few advanced college courses on Tribology and Chemistry before you randomly select over the counter mixtures to add to vehicle liquids.
