I have decided on three cars....Honda V6 Coupe EX-L Nav, Altima Couple SL w premium, tech and Nav and an 08 G37 Journey similarly equipt.......

Currently won an HHR so even the 2.5 seems like a race car LOL...

In any case. I have never bought a car I actually wanted. Always practical or the "deal I could not pass up" Now that we can afford to pay cash and don't have to worry so much about practicality (but still deeply ingrained to save as much as possible) I am trying to decide which is the better choice. But also being a cash buyer the "interest incentives" mean little. One has to think much harder when putting a pile of cash on the counter so to speak then thinking in terms of payments. Which we won;t do on a depreciating asset. We save first then buy according to the savings allocated. In other words we do make payments in the car but to our own independent car account at 8% interest. Thats how we have done this for the past 25 years and t works well.

The Nissan is my favorite size wise as it fits into the garage with the wife's RAV 4 and my bike behind it easily. I can get to the cabinets in front and walk around the car.

The same with the Infiniti and it will depreciate less as its already taken the big initial hit from $43K to $33K It has 12K miles.......however all warranty7 work has to be done at the nearest Infiniti dealer which is 100 miles away!! BTW I can buy a new Infiniti 09 similarly equipt as the Nissan I want for $37,800......

The Honda has the best financial in depreciation and I like the car as its less of a "midlife crisis" car. however the friggin thing is 191" inches long and although it will fit in the garage with my bike its 6" of play and I would have to move the bike and the car to open a abstinent......This car screams financial acumen.

All prices are the same withing $500.....

The color combo I want is white frost.Blonde with P,T and Nav.......CVT

The Nissam is basically the Infiniti without the "moniker and Rear wheel drive which doesn;t mean much to me.Especially the 2010s the NAv and tech system is alike. I think they share the same engine although the Infiniti has a 7 speed auto...

So what do you think......Maybe someone my age should buy a Lexus or Buick.....??? LOL

I would recommend the G37. But thats because I wold prefer the RWD. If that really doesn't matter then the Altima would be an excellent choice. The Altima would probably be cheaper to maintain as well.

It really gets to personal preference at this point. I would defiantly go with the G, then the altima a close second. But Honda, not a chance.

the accord coupe is ugly IMO, there is no flow.

I would say either the G or altima coupe

HAd an opportunity to drive both Honda Coupes tonight. 4 and 6 The four was far nicer than the 2.5s The 6 Felt like a much larger and more "luxurious" car... Performance was on par with the Altima. But the Nissan has a more muscular look...and far better dash layout and a stiffer suspension for better pr wprse oh and its $18,000 less than a new 09 Infiniti. The whole driving 100 miles for warranty work is turning me off the G37. I would have to kill two days and 400 miles of driving.if a check engine light or worse needed repair..... I have two Nissan Dealers in my backyard here in Myrtle Beach.

But curious, I am on my way to Charleston to see the 09 Infiniti I was quoted and I stop at Coastal Nissan and find a 08 slate/black 3.5SE......Liked it much better than the red. It had the Premium package, 21K miles. They were asking 26K but went as low as $22,200 Plus $300 Tax (Sales tax capped in South Carolina) and $27 title fees including with the Certification and "100K preferred Wrap" But I could not get past the "spoiler" and I really want white with Blonde leather......I may wait for the 2010s and see if I can locate one..

I don't care for the spoiler. It does nothing useful but shout "look at me I'm a race car" I cannot help but wonder if that thing can be removed without a repaint.

I thought the price was pretty good though at about $22.500 OTD

No, this is THE nico site. I would say the G37 if you don't have kids, your kids are grown, or you're not planning on kids, or if you didn't have to drive 100miles for a check up. I vote Altima, 22 seems about right, I don't think it's a great deal but I don't know the difference in depreciation between the 2.5 and 3.5

Thanks......Part time kids (the wifes) but we have a RAV 4. I also have a bike I use first on nice days,

The whole going from Myrtle Beach to Charleston thing for Warranty work is really got me leaning towards the Altima coupe. But the 3.5 SE are far more rare around here (withing 150 miles!!) than the G37 by a ration of 20-1!!! Imagine that.

Only one in Myrtle Beach for sale.

To order one new like I want is a 90 day wait.......ans no dealers are getting in new 3.5 coupes....Amazing.

If I could get this car for $31K I would jump on it and deal with the trips to Charleston, but the dealer won't budge even with a check....(but they prefer financing I guess nowadays)

Same color combo and options I would choose in the Altima 3.5......

Looks like I may be hanging in the Latima Coupe Forum....LOL

Yeah I like the Altima but it seems they are far more rare then the 08 G37s.

There is only one 3.5SE Coupe within 100 miles of me..NEW or USED....LOL..

Plenty of Infiniti G37 Coupes for $10K more .....

You wont be dissapointed with either 3

If you have the money to spend get the G37, the fit and finish is that of any luxury car model.

The Altima coupe is a nice car and parts are easy to come by, you can dress it up however you want both exterior/engine, and parts for our cars would be cheaper than the G37

And the Accord coupe I would choose if it was all about the resale value/reliability and not wanting to keep anything long term.

if I were to rate them 1. A G37 if you want to feel lik your in a luxury/sporty car2. Altima Coupe if you wanted to make it into your own little project car (like so many of us on here have done)3. The Accord Coupe, it looks nice, but the interior is ridiculous, buttons everywhere, and it has less parts out I believe.

Well I have Limited the price I will pay for any of the above to 32K max

That said I have been trying to get this 08 from this dealer but he wont budge on the price even though I can buy a new 09 for that or $1000 more OTD ($300 sales tax cap here) http://grandstrandnissan.vinma...89927

The Altima Coupe I want is not available and there are only two in the region, I don;t want to wait 60 days for a new one (and would rather buy an 08 Infinity that already took the 1st and 2nd year depreciation hit for the same money)

The Honda is plentiful and yeah the depreciation is not bad.

The best bet for the money is an 08 Altima SE Coupe for around $22K The only one here is silver but they quoted $22500 OTD http://www.coastalsaves.com/Pa...id=-1 Hate the spoiler....I'm over 50...no need for a spoiler..LOL

I am going to Car Max tomorrow with my title of the HHR to see what they will offer. I have in the past received at least $1000 over dealer trade in (Actual Cash Value) at least they will put it in writing and that can be shopped as well. I can save $15,000 cash buy buying the Nissan above over anything I have looked at.......... and since I am paying cash that is significant.....I just don;t care for the color.....LOL
