Car: Planning to get 2011 Altima Coupe 3.5 SR

Post

hey guys i've been planning to get a new Altima Coupe 3.5 SR and I've been reading around this forum and i liked it so i just registered  .But I just have a few questions for you guys.

I'm trying to get a manual but when I build it on the website it doesnt allow me to add any packages. Is this because its impossible or they just have problems with the website?

I was thinking tho that most of you end up switching the bose system and navi so im guessing its not worth it to add the technology package and the sound... is it better to just get the basic 3.5 manual with nothing on it and add aftermarket sound and navi?

Also if you have any advice or any thoughts you'd like to share on some upgrades that i should do to the car id be glad to hear it

thanks guys

Don't repeat our mistake and get it new, buy it used
If you want more than looks - look into more performing platforms - eg Genesis coupe

If you are so unhappy with the coupe, sell it Daan!

I would go with less from the factory, more from aftermarket...

if i could do it all over again, i just might consider getting a genesis in lieu of an AC for the sole fact that they have more extensive aftermarket stuff.

but, a 3.5 MT altima coupe is a pretty unique automobile... i see more genesises (??)? than ACs, which makes it all the more unique.

btw, it seems like either nissan's site is not operating correctly when selecting packages for the 3.5 MT OR they dont offer any. i assume the latter. When i got my 2.5, I couldnt get ANY package bc nissan doesnt provide it for 2.5 MTs.

Maybe go to 1 or 2 dealers and ask around?

if you care little less on design and the look but want performance from a sportier car, i highly recommend the Genesis. But if you like me who care little less on race somebody and more on wanting people turn heads for your car, then i would go with the AC. Its personal preference

As a new member, let me tell you my experience. Their site is working correctly but it took me a while to figure out the packages. In essence if you order the manual, it comes with the premium package and leather package preinstalled. So, if you order the manual you avoid the additional packages on the CVT. So you get more car for less money. That said, you do sacrifice some mileage. I personally was tring to find a good compromise between mileage and performance. The bigger problem is that unless you special order it, you're not going to find any 3.5 coupes with a manual on any lot. I'm in Florida and I know the closest I found was about 500 miles away in a color I didn't want.

I've only had the car two weeks and I'm still adjusting to the CVT but coming from a six speed RX-8, I'll adapt.

Wanted to comment on other cars people have recommended. Drove the Genesis coupe (but not the track version). Very interesting but it felt cheaper and much more plasticy. Granted my A/C is loaded (minus the NAV system). Although I wish the Altima had better performance, the Genesis was not as refined as the Altima. (Personal prefernce also is I think the A.C is better looking, and looks like the Infiniti minus the extra 12,000 dollars.) Also drove the Accord coupe (again cheaper feel), a V6 Camaro (not bad but I could feel the extra 300+ pounds) and the BMW 128i (great car but by the time you get the options the Altima has then you're up to $37,000.) Hope this helps.
