Hi Group - I'm considering a G35c, 6-speed manual, to be used as a daily driver and to attend 5-10 track driving events each year. I won't be racing, but learning high performance drivingI did a search and didn't come up with much on tracking the car.

I'm wondering if it's a good choice and if there are any structural or mechanical concerns I should consider when using the car this way.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome aboard!

I'm a little biased, as a G Coupe owner, but I think it'd be a great dual-purpose ride. Keep in mind you'll go through some expensive tires and brake pads/rotors while tracking it, but it's a very capable machine, and surprises a lot of people with its capabilities.

I'll be attending some HPDE events as well with mine.

Welcome to the forum...

I have to agree with AZhitman -- I'm equally as biased being a coupe owner as well. I think you'll find the track performance astonishing considering the power the car has combined with the weight distribution. I plan to take mine out to the track as well, if I could only be in town when the SCCA events are held!

In so far as the daily driver aspect, I think you'll like the power and nimble handling to get you through those LONG drives in traffic! It's pretty much a blast to drive.

I have only one problem, if it's really a problem, you will find it is not as easy to bring the back end around when doing any controled slides. I took my car to Willow Springs and tried to do controled drifts and slides at higher then street speeds and found that all it wanted to do was brake on me. Now mind you I have a a/t but the vdc will engage even when you have it turned off. And as they say you will go through your tires very quickly, get some spares that you are willing to lay out on the tack. Its not just the G35 that does that though. There was an 02 z06 that had the same problem but because of the power it had it was able to get a little more loose then me. It is a blast to take these cars on the track it a whole different experience when you don't have to look over your shoulder for cops, and it is a lot safer too.
