Post

Hey everybody Im new around here...Ive got a 92 hatch with an s15 face RB20, and a 92 convertible with a R32 face and an SR20, love my s13 chassis cars, I even brought back a RHD shell Im going to be using as my track car...I lived in Japan for awhile and fell in love with the nissan cars....

This is my first post and Im sure I will be posting frequently as I work on getting my cars up and running properly...

My rb20, I got the ecu chip-socketed, got the chip in, and tried starting it today...It Starts! Its a pretty lengthy build, good for probably 350 hp reliably, but when It started the idle was real rough, and its belching fuel in the exhaust, smoking bad...the smoke is straight fuel...I think maybe the timing might need to be adjusted...Im running 650 injectors, and I was told that the tune is for 555 injectors or higher, so this tune should work for what I have right?

You need to get that thing hooked up to the dyno and do your own tune. Sounds like you have a "get it running" tune on it right now. Maybe its time to start street tuning it.

Generally any quality tune is for a specific size injector. From the symptoms, it definitely sounds like you are running rich. If it's tuned for 555's, the ecu will send the appropriate signal to the injectors to run a certain percent duty cycle. If you have larger injectors, the percent duty cycle will be putting more fuel in the motor than the ecu realizes. Simple as that, try a different tune or smaller injectors.
