Hello, this is my maiden voyage here. It looks like an awesome site, and I look forward to settling in. I just purchased a 96se for my daughters first car. It is dark purplish-blue....I don't know the factory name of the color.... with an auto transmission, and uhm....power the power pkg. No sunroof. The car runs really well, but is a little scuffed here and there. I still haven't insured the car yet, so drive time has not been too great yet. As of right now, I know I have the following issues. Drivers door hinge pins are bad....door sags some.....Hood has rust bubbles from the underside where the mastic drops are between the hood inner and outer......so I'm thinking another hood is in order.....the headlight 'covers' are all cloudy......and uhm....oh yeah, several of the factory rims are 'curbed' badly, but I think I'm gonna put the 17s that are currently on the maxima on this car, and get a set of 18s to put on the max.......and I may need to replace the rear struts....they just feel a little weak. Wow....that's a lot, huh? Any ideas....comments? Let me know......Thanks.....Oh yeah, the car has 95k miles, and we got it for 3,750....what do ya think?

I have that same problem with my driver side oddr too. What are you gonna do? Replace the pins? Hey let me know if that works out.Sounds like a fair price for the year and milage. If you need a set of stock se wheels I have a mint set I just removed to install a set of 17's. Good luck

One question about the doors, do they sag at the hinges or at the actual pin for the door? And by weak what do you mean about the struts, are they bouncy or something? Oh and WELCOME!! :D to nico!

Welcome to nico! You can really learn alot about your S14 if you just cruise the boards a bit. You got a really good deal IMO. I am looking for a hatch right now, but since you got the 240 for your daughter, I am going to assume you are going to keep it stock, unlike me ;)

Wow!! Lots of response so soon!! I think my drivers door is sagging because of the hinge pins....and that's assuming it has hinge pins.....surely I won't have to replace the entire hinges. Man, I hope not:confused: My wife drives the 01 Maxima, and I think I'm gonna rob the SE rims off of it and put them on the 240. I like the look of the rims, and I think the increase in size will be a sweet addition. Then I'll need to round up a set of bronze 'volks' to put on the 'sherwood green' Max. What do ya think? Anyone got any bronze 18s? In response to my rear struts, on any rough surface, I can hear a distinct ''bump'' sound from the rear....particularly on the passenger rear area. I am just assuming that they are 'tired'. The front struts seem to be in really good shape. I showed my daughter a pic of a carbon fiber hood today, and she was ..... well..... really not too impressed....haha....so I don't know what I'm gonna do about that yet. Also, I'm having issues with the factory radio....if you can call it that.....It either works or doesn't....I know we'd all be much happier with a nice aftermarket setup, but there's the money thing ya know. I saw some 'eyelids' for a 240, or a silvia, the other day while on line, and they looked really neat....does anyone know where to get them? I have to have some. Oh yeah, this car has the factory amber foglights on it. Did all SEs have these? Man they are bright! Now I must apologize for the choppy post, I get all beside myself once I get started...bear with me. Thanks!!

Ooh ooh get the CF hood, get it painted to match the car, and go for a nice mp3 cd player off EBay!!! (Alpine CDA 7995 leaps to mind, though you'd need external amplification, and the Kenwood models work really well, though I don't remember model numbers offhand). and WELCOME =)

Thank you everyone!!!! mp3 players hmmm.....sounds pretty good....Oh yeah, I wanted to ask, when I search for wheels on line, I always get info that you can put 240 wheels and maxima wheels on the same car....I have always heard that front wheel drive wheels aren't made for rear drive cars, and it makes sense, but I thought that maybe they were made close enough on these cars that maybe they could be interchangable. If not, I absolutely will not swap them. Two of the rims on the 240 are scratched up real bad, so they need to go before long, cause the car needs tires too and I don't want to put new tires on these old rims. Can somebody give me anymore feedback on this? Again, thank you for the warm welcome....I will surely make the most of this great site.

Here's a little info...

Vehicle Model Year....Wheel Size...Bolt Pattern...Hub Bore

Maxima.............................. '85-88......14/15"......4-4.5...66.06Maxima...............................'89-03......15/16".... 5-4.5... 66.06

Dunno what 4-4.5 converts to sorry lol 96se means 5 lug right? So they might bolt up, you'd want to check offsets though, I believe thats what was referred to earlier as possibly problematic.

I'll have to make some calls or something to try to find out offset values for these cars. My maxima has factory 17'' on it, and I like the way they look, and I think they'd look nice on the 240....at least for a while. Plus, untill my daughter learns to apply the brake while taking a curve, I don't wanna sink lotsa money in a set of high end rims for her car yet...haha....Man! She wants to take all curves wide *** open!
