The commercial says more powerful than the accord/altima.. but if you look it up the 09 mazda 6 has an incredible 2 horse powers more than the 3.5se and 9 or so more pounds of torque. I have to call BS, because the sucker weighs in at 3547lbs, which is a whopping 300 pound weight differential from the A/C. I dunno, what do you guys think? I'm just looking forward to seeing a fresh one on the road and putting that zoom zoom mumbo jumbo to the test ;-)

I think they look good. It's just Mazda's marketing dept. doing their job, every company (even Nissan!) will shine their product in the best of light... Otherwise they wouldn't be very good at staying in business. (They are in fact telling the truth, just not the whole 'truth')

A good example is when the Chevy Malibu came out. I saw an add where all the they had a table with all the Malibu's "superior" features stacked up against the competition. What was next to their mpg's for the Altima? An asterisk. Why? Because the "information was unavailable". It took me 20 seconds to go to Nissan's web site and look it up - lol. btw, the Altima's was 1-2 mpg's better on both ends. Nothing to write home about, but... that is the way of marketing.

The Altima Coupe is not in the same class as the Mazda 6. It is in the same class as the Altima Sedan which is longer and heavier than the Altima Coupe. The coupe is in the same class as the Eclipse and Accord Coupe.

Well I am a Honda hater, and indeed, the maxima and Accord use to be in the same class... remember, Honda use to have the Prelude also which fit in there somewhere... but over time, the ALtima has slowly crept up from a 4 door economy vehicle (1st gen) to a larger economy vehicle (2nd generation) to a midsize sedan (3rd and 4th generation) performance wise, it has overtaken the bigger and heavier Maxima, but luxury feature wise, the Maxima is still at the top of the Nissan pecking oder

so yes, what you say is exactly true, the altima is up against Honda's flagship! (And beating it pretty nicely I might add)

09 mazda6 V6 will beat a 4 cyl altima This is where they get you. It doesn't say "Our V6 Mazda6 has more power and is faster than the V6 Altima from Nissan."

Yuuuuuuuuup - you can't compare a midsize sedan to a subcompact (that is what the coupe is rated as).

And remember, they always compare base models - the altima base model is the 4 cyl, the mazda 6 doesn't have one. A better comparison would be the mazda 3 vs the altima 2.5...

What they aren't mentioning is that they have the WORST fuel economy in the class.

Oh and that every review so far has said pretty much that it's decent but the Altima is still the most fun to drive in the mid-size sedan segment.
