I just got off the phone with ARP inquiring about some head studs, main studs, and rod bolts. Apparently they offer a CA specific head stud kit now. The ARP number is 202-4302 and the cost direct from ARP is $98.82. Just thought I would share the info.

There was a thread about float_6969 using them just a day or two ago.

I guess you missed it, thanks for putting down the part numbers buddy!

No, that was using the SR main stud kit. This is a CA specific kit.

remember folks its sr main stud = ca ghetto head stud kit. (reiterating for the nth time as its easy to screw up and most people don't notice the fact that main != head when casually reading)

Perfect... Now I'm completely confused...Now we have 3 kits that SHOULD work:SR Main Stud kit -- 202-5402CA head stud kit-- 202-4302and on ebay I can see 202-4702(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... ename=WDVW)

So, what's the right one?

Upon a second call to ARP, the salesperson confirmed to me that the SR main stud kit and the CA head stud kit are in fact the same thing, but ARP gave the CA head stud kit it's own part number to avoid confusion. Ironic, eh?

I got mine off of eBay, from that company, so yes, they are selling the correct thing. It would probabally be cheaper to go directly to ARP though...

does this kit not suffer from the clearance issues that the ARP head studs did a few years back?

Which clearance issues? You'll have to grind down a 12pt deepwell socket, but otherwise there aren't any.

maybe thats it, someone was saying about 3 years ago that they had the arp head studs and couldn't tighten the nuts down, that they were too big and the head would need machined or something.
