http://www.japanesemotorsport.com.au/index.html

go to "parts in stock" and page 7...near the bottom there is:

"Trust TD05H-16G turbo Kit for the CA18DET Engine. Kit includes Turbo, Stainless Manifold, External Wastegate and Oil feed/return Lines.

$2,300" (australian dollars)

isn't the td05h-16g the mitsu turbo that most every dsm driver upgrades to? a brand new one is about $500.... even with all the extra parts i can't see spending $2,300 on that setup....

fpgreen is a turbo made by the above company, apparently it's pretty wicked. The company makes nice turbos for dsms, and I wanted to know if they'd fit CAs (with appropriate mani, of course) w/o making a custom manifold/etc.

for my 2nd ca18det I'm gonna make a short/paired runner manifold and run mitsu turbos. Will use sch40 bends. No cracking.I'll start with a td05/16G, which I think is a great turbo. It is tried and proven, to even out perform $800 bigT28s. Guys run these things reliably for a long time, 18psi pump gas, 24 race. I really think this $4-500 small 16G can run 11s. One 16G ca18det on the uk bbs recently ran 12.0s.... thats really flyin', for a "small" turbo. The 1st gen mitsu turbos are even clocked perfectly for bottom mounting on a ca18det. After maxed out, I'll slip on a td06/20G and shoot for over 400whp - you can pick on t3/t4 cars then.Even if u pay $450 for a custom header, to mount a 16G, you'll be ahead of a stock manifold/bigT28 combo imo.

there aren't many people out there that are running significant times with the 20g on dsms. About half usually run nitrous to help spool the 20g. You're best just to stick with the big16g or the evo3 16g which is bigger than the big16g and only costs a like $30 extra. If you want a wickedly fast spooling turbo for the ca then you should go for the 14b which comes stock on the 5spd 1st gen dsms. People have run twelves with it and a few have seen 11s... (i'm not completley sure on the 11's part)

what about the FPGreen???? I'vee seen the others, I heard the big28 was lackluster, but no one I've heard of runs either the FPGreen or the Evo3 on a nissan engine . . .

20G, no significant times ? are mid to hi 11s not "significant" in a full wt street car? To find out the capabilities of a 16 or 20, I only pay attention to results from experienced DSM'ers. If you're not 12.2-12.6 on a 16G, you are not ready for an upgrade....on the 20G, "smart folks" have "typically" gone 11.6s range. There are those exceptional cars that have gone faster, but so many factors then come into play; car weight, engine management, tuning quality, worked gboxes, driving style & ability, etc - alot of things that don't show up on a timeslip, you may not be willing to do to a daily driver.Only "newbies" overemphasize fast spool up. 20s are great street turbos, with only a 3-400 difference in spoolup vs a 16, but hit harder. Makes a difference what hotside u run too.Another thing I like is, for what a 20G is capable of, u don't really have to run a big ol clumsy external wastegate.Veteran DSM guys have gone no faster on a big16 than they did on the small. For a new turbo, 16G is "bang for da buck" king, imo.If going used seems like its worth your time, 14B is a great turbo.... but then, so is a junkyard 2.3 ford T3Even with their 2.0 60ft disadvantage vs awd 1.7-1.8s, S13s seem to ET better on the same turbo. Greasers S13 pulled a 1.4 with nothing exotic, so that should tell you about the S13 chasis capability.there's nothing stopping anyone from running an evo, green or whatever on a nissan. Your supporting mods will be no different than a DSM and I seriously doubt your performance will be any less rewarding. Just do it

wow. way to go overboard. if you look at my post i said that there aren't "many" people running significant times. I didn't say the times weren't significant. You say the spoolup is only between the 16g and 20g is only about 3-400 rpm when in fact its nearer 4-500 (unless all proper supporting mods are completed and a good deal of tuning is done, then yes, the spoolup time is lowered.). Its not a very streetable turbo. You can't possibly say only newbies put emphasis on spoolup either. I put emphasis on spoolup for my own reasons. I'm not looking to run 11s. I'm looking for a wider, more usable powerband for other things, aside from drag. I also don't want to have to spend all the extra money to buy the supporting mods for a 20g. I am a decently expierenced DSMer and i'm not claiming to know everything either. Just what i know from expierence. My last car was a '94 gsx btw. I do know a little about what i'm talking about.

I never said u didn't know what u were saying.... actually pretty much in agreement with u."quick spool" and "streetable" is totally objective... to each his/her ownI've run the 16, 19C & 20G on my DSM... still have the turbos actually. These long posts seem to get people emotional. Sorry for going "overboard", I thought the info would be useful.... oh well
