Picked up my 08 M45x last week and absolutely love the car. I had been driving a Q45 that unfortunately got wrecked, so new to this forum, but not nicoclub. I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate your input!
1) I got 2 keys for the car. One does not work. It has a brand-new battery (verified on a volt-meter). The cut key works to open the door, and I can put the key into the Intelligent Key port and start the car. So, I know it's the key for this car, but that is it.
2) Compact Flash - sorry to ask about this, but searched through many threads on the site and have yet to find what is the max size card that will be recognized. I realize there is a folder and file limits.
3) I have the Technology/Advanced Technology packages with the DVD player in the center console, and quite honestly, I don't see what real value it adds. I can't see sitting there watching a movie, and I can put plenty of MP3 music on a CD, so it's not like burning DVD audio discs are worthwhile. So what do you use your DVD drive for?
4) iPod connector - great idea, but I don't own one (just a comment)
5) Wheel locks - the car does not have McGard locking lug nuts. I see a few different flavors for sale, anybody have the actual McGard part number for these?
Thanks much in advance!

Congrats on the new M !
As far as the key is concerned: Possibly it needs to be re-programmed.
The I-pod connector is also useless for me as I don't own one, but I am trying to find a cord that will attach to the open end of the connector cord with a micro USB male end to allow me to charge my HTC phone whilst driving (instead of using the cigar lighter socket).
The flash drive: I do not use mine but I'm told if you use it, the system is very slow. No idea how large a file it can manage. I make data CDs for my car. They hold up to about 100 tracs each and you can scrolll through the tracs on the NAV screen. I use Windows Media player to burn them and instead of setting it to burn an MP3 disc, I choose DATA.
As for the wheel lugs, I am useless on this point - I don't have locking wheel lugs.

I'm thinking the key for is bad. Perhaps while changing the battery the previous owner broke the wire to the coil antenna? They're easy to open and check.
For the wheel lock check this thread m35-sport-what-is-our-lug-nut-size-and- ... 34067.html
For the CF socket, buy a really inexpensive class 1 version with 128 and another 64 and try them out. Then get the final working size in a class 10 or higher.
The dvd drive in the center is beautiful. Just staring at it is worth having it. I haven't used mine in years. It takes up quite a bit of space in the center console doesn't it? I heard a few audio dvds recorded in DTS and it was amazing.
Enjoy your new car!

I'd take the fob apart again, put a brand new battery in and try one more time. Otherwise, prolly needs to be reprogrammed.

Part of the problem is that compact flash cards are going the way of Sony Betamax tapes and VHS for that matter, DATs, Laserdiscs, etc...old technology that had it's place at one time and at best, the highest capacity CF card you might easily get is only 1 to 2 GB.

Secure digital cards, and micro SD (cell phone size) are getting to be of much higher capacity than CF cards ever were. Might want to check out getting an SD card to CF adapter, should only be a couple bucks and then you might see what size SD cards the thing might read.

Some folks have gotten a few 5.1 audio DVDs and have been blown away by the sound...not a huge number of titles and I think they're a little bit pricey

Also think the type of lug nuts is also critical in addition to the size 12 mm x 1.25. My M's are closed ended, and tapered at the bottom (hex nut conical seat - i believe). I've seen a few sets on Fleabay that look very similar to the OEM, but are straight walled and not tapered. Don't know if those will fit exactly right.

According to one site I looked at 06-10 M35/45 with 18 inch wheels: locking lug nuts were Product Code: IP-999W2VR000M
They appear to have conical base

Update - even though the battery tested as over 3v, I put another brand new battery in, and now the remote works!
