Hello everyone!I have a new M35x (all wheel drive) with the 18-inch wheels and the steering is ALL OVER THE ROAD. When you change lanes on the highway (anywhere 60-80 MPH) the car "wiggles" in the rear and feels like it's momentarily unstable. EVERY LITTLE RUT in the road or bump makes the wheel jump a little; and in general I feel like I'm "steering' all the time - can't just let it "drive" without always compensating and adjusting. It's definitely less of a problem below 45 mph but it's almost impossible at higher speeds.
I live north of Boston but have driven 1800 miles in the month that I've owned it - from Portland, ME to CT to NY and NJ - so I've tried all sorts of roads, new, old, hills, town, highway, etc. It's just always a lot of WORK to keep the car straight. And last week we almost had to pull off and go backroads home because it was just too weird on the highway.
I've set the tires at 33psi (they were originally at 35 from the dealer) cold, too; no improvement.
I went to the dealer this morning. The service manager said," Oh, we hear that all the time with the -07 M and Gs" even before I had finished describing the problem. We took it for a test drive together and he said he could feel the problem but that it was just 'normal' for such a sensitive car that hugs the road. So I asked him if I could drive a M35x with bigger tires and they don't have them because those are all "special order'. So I drove a M45 with the larger tires and it was stable and smooth (certainly more road feedback for tires with smaller sidewalls but we were changing lanes on on-ramps at 70mph without a hitch)...
Help! I'm frustrated! I am one month into a 24-month lease and nobody has any answers. I called Infiniti Consumer line and they said, "If it's not a defect or physical problem, then it's just how it's engineered" and didn't even want to open a ticket on it.
Anyone else have/heard of this issue? ... before I have to go deal with the dealer again.
My girlfriend won't even get in the car now... and for $54,000 worth of car, I'm starting to get a little upset.......
Thanks for any feedback or insights.Matthew
