Did not drive the new M , but set in one and looked at it closely , twice . The interior is very nice indeed , better materials and finish quality then my 03 . However , on the the outside , my 03 M is much more unique , manly , muscle car looking then the 06 M which looks almost genertic by comparison. I now own the 03M (43Kmi), 91Q (148Kmi) , 00 Honda S2000 (14Kmi). From all of them by far, I always got many more comments about the M , which surprised me in the beginning . I love this machine .

In all honesty I love them both... I think the Y34 (old) is more appealing to the enthusiasts, like us... I wish I had enough money to get one now because they are going to be HARD to find in 10 years, as only 2000 or so were shipped over.... People who bought the G50 Qs back in the early 90s probably bought an M45 for the same reason....

The new one, IMHO is more appealing to the mass market and is a better competitor to BMW and MB.... Its got the specs, and everything. I dont think it looks bland at all... Its styling is a bit more mainstream, but i think it stands out. I saw one on the streets the other day and i about lost it... It was golden... The old M just doesnt stand out as much to me... However it is more G50ish than the new one.....

I hate to call apples and oranges but I think theyre 2 different cars intended for two different markets. I really dont think they cared how many 03s they sold as they were just rebadged from japan.

Nice comparison, pretty much echo's my sentiments. The new M is also re-badged, it's a Nissan Fuga in JDM land.

My favorite M, by Sportec:

I think once my 7/8" bolt on spacers are installed, my ride should sit just like that.

Like the exterior of the old M, like the interior of the new M. I saw a TV commercial for the new M today. Nicely done.

Better not drive it off the billiard table, Kevin.

Absolutely true in my case! I bought my 1991 Q45 new in March of 1991 because it was so much fun to drive a big 4 door sedan as hard and faster than the 2 door Nissan 300ZX Turbo I had before that.

The 2003 M45 I have now brings back the same driving joy!

Plus it has unique and different looks that I absolutely love ... not the blandness being sold today!

All I have to say to those comparing the old M to the new one is to DRIVE the new one. There is absolutely no comparison WHAT SO EVER. The M35/M45 wins HANDS DOWN. The driving experience never gets tiring. No knock against the 1st gen because that was amazing too IMO, but no comparison to the current one.

Comparing a Y34 to a Y50 is like comparing a FY33 to a G50. They are quite different cars.

Y34 and Y50 do share a more similar drivetrain, but that's about it.

The only thing I don't like is the red stitching around the innter parts of the steering wheel and on the shifter on some models. It reminds me too much of the stitching on the 02+ Civic Si's steering wheels. Infiniti should have been more innovative and accelerated the future on that feature

Thanks! Sportec really does it right IMO. My wheels should sit just like that with the spacers (7/8 or 1", can't recall what I went with). I'll probably end up rolling the fenders, but my car's not quite that low. I visited the Sportec booth at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show, and just loved thier cars.

Y34 = 03/04 M45

Y50 = ???

I thought the new M35/45 was the FM50 as it was built on the same FM chassis the G35 is.

The new one hands down. I haven't driven either, but as far as styling, the new M win's. I sat in an old M once. I found it to be a bit tight. Tomorrow I'm going to the NYIAS. I'm looking forward to checking the new M out. It looked great last year. This year, I get to sit in it and check it out for comfort.

The F50 Q was built on the FM chassis too, and I think the FX was too
