Was in LA last weekend and saw a new M parked at the corner of Hollywood & Vine. It was a greenish metallic color with a light interior. Badges were taped over with duct tape. Didn't have a chance to stop and look inside, but looks like the real thing!

The cabin is very tall, so I expect none of the headroom problems I have with current G, Q, & M. Not terribly impressive in person, just a mish-mesh of different styling elements whipped into a new car. The original Q is still a lot more elegant.

On a side note... had a 2004 Hyundai Sonata V-6 from Hertz for a few days. VERY impressed. Buttery smooth engine and transmision, no vibration at all (very toyota like drivetrain feel). Steering was perfect. Suspension very smooth on highways but still manueverable around town. Headroom (sunroof) and back seat room were tight, so not a new car candidate for me. But if you know anyone looking for a decent new car, tell them to drive the Sonata. Much more refined than the Accord/Camry/Altima crowd. I'm curious to see what happens with new Sonata to be assembled in Alabama.

That's because it's a test mule. I saw it at the NYIAS this spring and it was beautiful. Can't wait to get one.

And apparently, Hyundai build quality has surpassed Honda and Toyota, with tighter panel gaps and more even paint.

I think the NYIAS one is in San Antonio this weekend, so I might go to see if it avoided the Passat on steroids look. Just don't understand why they would use that kick-up on the C window that mimics the Teana. Screams economy car to me.

Hopefully the driving experience will make one forget the styling flaws.
