On that shot the head lights do look the same.Falkdesigns wrote:The headlights are actually stock. You can tell that's why Auto Couture did the quad tail pipes and the ovals and wide ovals on the body kit.
The headlights on the Auto-Couture modded UF40 are standard equipment on the LS 600h L. They could possibly be an option on the LS 460, but if not they definitely could be swapped.Falkdesigns wrote:The headlights are actually stock.
I think the "german" that everyone is seeing is the front fender and it's flare. The wheels are noticely BMW-ish. Other than that, the entire car is JDM in feel also.Falkdesigns wrote:I don't see any German, I see pure JDM influence in it's body design. It looks nothing like a 7 series or an S class Benzo. It looks very Japanese to me, head to tail.
The stereo is 18 speakers I believe, and I also mentioned the Infrared cameras that monitor backseat passenger body heat.
I happen to feel that all LS models have been very nice cars, if a tad bland, but I like the current LS personally.
The Audi A8 lwb is a very nice car, but it can't compare in creature comforts for backseat passengers to the 460L, and it costs more money than the 460L. The new S class is ugly IMO, and the current 7 series is boring after only a few years in production.
Lexus isn't exactly boring. Maybe it's borng because you never need to bring it in the shop? If I could have found one, I would have taken a late 90s SC400 over the Q45 in a heartbeat. Lexus build quality > *. They have been focused on build quality for a long time now, hence their first place spot with reliability for the last decade or so.Rex wrote:I don't quite understand the overall disdain for Lexus either, beyond the "general concensus" that it's boring?!?! I've neevr been in one, but I chased many LS400's down the Jersey turnpike doing triple digit speeds in the early 90's.
I like the looks of the new LS460, and I always liked the looks of the GS's. Be interesting to see what the ones that make it to the show room look like, but I have to say, Lexus seems to be heading straight after MB ... wonder if they'll accomplish what they're after or if they should just focus on being what they are - the leading Asian Luxury mass market auto maker.
Turn the taillights on the Lexus upside down.Falkdesigns wrote:I don't see any German, I see pure JDM influence in it's body design. It looks nothing like a 7 series or an S class Benzo.
You must mean body length....I thought "wow, that's a really long wheelbase considering that my F50 is 113" and the long wheelbase Maybach is 150", somehow it looks small in the pics..."Falkdesigns wrote:0-60 in 5.6 seconds198 and 202" wheelbases8 speed auto (a world first)
I never liked a car that was a copy of another. It shows a lack of talent when Toyota copies the basic shape from a BMW.Falkdesigns wrote:I don't see any German, I see pure JDM influence in it's body design. Agreed. I don't really like it. The fascia (at both ends) is ugly. It's got the same pug nose, huge grille, and goofy headlight styling that made the old LS ugly. All Toyota and Lexus tail lights suck right now. I wholeheartedly agree that it looks like a fat Camry. It looks like it crashed into a wall as well. I don't like how the hood is raised above the fenders a-la Dodge pickup. The old LS looked "fat" to me and this one does, too.Skibane wrote:I'm smelling a lot of " 'more', for the sake of 'more' "...
It doesn't take 8 forward speeds to get to 60 in 5.6 seconds -Ditto for 18 speakers re: excellent sound and 5 sunshades re: good visibility.
As for the styling, it looks a lot like a fat Camry.
