As you all might have seen from my other post, my last rb20 that had been running strong for a couple years finally failed.. My intake manifold gasket wore out and leaked water into a combustion chamber.

Here's the new long block, came with everything a motorset does minus the AC/PS, exh mani/turbo/DP, IC/piping, CAS, transmission... Other than that it came with more accessories than I was expecting. $600 +$240 shipping from venus auto. Came in 3 days after ordering.

Here's pics of the new turbo, look closely and you'll see the specs on both housings. Garrett T3 .60 AR compressor housing, .48 AR Exhaust housing. The .48 AR comp .48 AR exh garrett t3 thats listed on all the garrett authorized dealer websites is listed at 350 max HP.. they probably mean crank hp... I'm just hoping for about 250 hp around town, and over 300 for track days.

Next to the stock turbo-

DSM injectors - Does anyone else run these? Please comment on the fitment, as it feels a little funny to me.. the upper part is too thick for the fuel rail.

Whatcha guys think?

Thanks for looking!-Max

dsm injectors have to be shaved down some to properly fit into the rb rail, or lots and lots of engine assembly lube when inserting them.

also the injectors are low impedence so resistor pack is neccary in order not to burn up the ecu

wait, wait, wait, I have searched this so many times. DSM injectors dont need resistors. I have been running them for the past few months...however...they are really damn loud and now i'm thinking this is because they really are low impedance. I need some clarification. BTW the stuff looks good man, that oil inlet nipple on your new turbo is burly.

dsm injectors are low imp, check the resistance for yourself and compare to the stockers...

Will do, thanks carl. What do I use to shave the injector inlets down with?

Jesse - thanks for the comment on my nipple, but that actually be the outlet, hence the burlitude. Jesse, kseriouslythx post your mods, AND A DYNO GRAPH! Your numbers should be similar to mine with higher peak HP and maybe a little lower torque at the same boost, due to the smaller turbo/quicker spool.

I'll go do that now. My intake manifold/upper plenum/throttle body gaskets just got here so I'm gonna see if I can finish the Injectors/intake mani today.

Did you port/polish the lower intake manifold runners or is your camera playing tricks on my eyes? They look shiny inside.

Nope, thats what mine looked like after I blasted the oil off the runners with brake clean.

I was sanding down the DSM injectors when I dropped one of them and broke the plastic cover on the tip of the injector.. I'm so pissed off right now.

I guess I'll be waiting on the reflash and 300 hp... DAM'NIT!

yeah... I'm pretty intimidating to the car when I'm holding that hammer..

I'll try to find that website where I got the shirt..

Motor's nearly done, I've got everything pretty much on the intake side, and now everything on the exhaust side.. All I gotta do it torque the crank pulley bolt, and wait patiently for spec to come through.

I'm about to call spec and cancel, and order through someone else.

That smells a lot worse than puke, that there is gear oil.

For my 1400th post I'm going to ask the question "How the hell do they make transmission/gear fluid smell so bad? Why can't they febreeze it or something? Or make it smell like expensive cologne so it'll turn my girlfriend on when I walk in the house?"

She is running and she is glorious!

I found out my new wastegate is set at like .25 bar.. its incredibly low.. I can only make my HKS EVC turn it up to about .55 bar.

Let me tell you.. It RIPS!

Maybe its because I havent driven my car in over a month, and I've been driving a slow mercedes... I dont know, it feels really fast.

She's pretty much complete, the faulty Cam angle sensor is driving me crazy. Other than that I am pretty happy with how much I've accomplished, and cant think of much else to do on her other than clean..
